Apparently in ~3 days they’ll collect all of the patient’s waste to store until it decays to an acceptable level in a few months, which will allow them to dispose of it safely.

Had the chance to see an I-131 thyroid ablation today and how an ion chamber is used to measure the amount of radiation the patient was emitting. Really interesting to see the precautions needed to perform this treatment.
