Spotted this young fox across the street, watching me walk by as he bathed in the rising sun.
In a moment like this I get this feeling of consciousness, like a theory of mind.
The fox moved ahead, and that was that.
Morning walks.

Jarvis drops a review of the Shamma Sandals Pacific Avenue.
Imagine Rainbow flip-flops.
Make them lighter.
Give them a soft, flexible sole.
Add a back strap to locks them on.
Make the entire sandal premium.
The result is the Pacific Avenue.
Behind daily step goals and needed to clear my head. Did old man 3 mile run on the treadmill.
Testing LUNA Mono Retro huaraches, tracking mileage to see how the Vibram Morflex soles degrade over time. Also seeing how they feel running. Need for a "tech strap" is interesting.
The Lems Switchback sandal is a novel addition to modern huarache-style sandals. It uses a ladder lock + proprietary "Slydr" ring to tighten heel and instep with one hand.
Folks will (and do) like them. @bdayshoes review after 60mi of asphalt, trails, even a couple 4-mile runs.
The mindset gets you looking for movement opportunities.
So at soccer tryouts for my oldest—sitting, watching. Realized I was sitting atop stairs.
Needed 3K steps (minimum), so I got to walking, all while sideways watching my kid. Pacing up and down.
Will finds way.
To that end, been publishing on @bdayshoes about steps and walking (and running) — building more movement into my life.
Have recently published a "how to" that supplies lots of methods to build more movement into all parts of your day.

For the longest time I've been a proponent of getting stronger, eating healthy, being healthy.
But it took me forever to build more, simple movement into my day-to-day life.
Delaying daily movement was a mistake I've taken "steps" to fixing.
You can just do things is step one — just the beginning because once you start doing, real life is going to push back. It's going to get messy, and it's going to feel harder than ever.
A new post at my site, link to follow.
If you're curious about how many steps a day you'd have to reach to hit an arbitrary annual goal, there's a calculator for that.

(I need to update it to complain if you put in #s higher than, perhaps, 50M.)
@justinowings@bdayshoes@XeroShoes I had Chaco's but didn't like the formed base. Found Shamma sandals. Bought warriors. Loved them but thought I wanted a thicker sole. Bought some Maximus....., I like them but think I'll get another warrior when time. Never thought I'd go to barefoot shoes but very glad I did.
My 5-million steps go-to shoe? The @XeroShoes HFS Original. And some 1–2K miles and two years (almost to the day) later, I'm finally writing a review.
TL;DR: I really like these shoes. They're lightweight, durably soled, foot-friendly — and they look good too.
Business or casual sandals.
Below, Lems "Switchback" vs. Soft Star "Camino."
I like these both, so far. Both very different from each other. Bought the Soft Stars a couple weeks back and just got the Lems this afternoon.
Lemme know if you have any questions.
