@100percentjake Odd.. I leave an external USB ( powered by wall wart) drive all the time. No instability. Same with several seagate, WD usb powered drives connected for days. Current macOS Ventura on a M1 MacBook Pro. Do you sleep your Mac and rarely reboot?
