Burlington Notre Dame defeated Davis County 3-1 Monday night in the season opener. Burlington won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15. DC won the third set 25-22 and Burlington Notre Dame won the fourth set 25-17.
The Lady Mustang basketball team improved to 5-2 overall with a 51-30 win over Cardinal Monday night. Halle Husted led the team with 12 points. Nadia Zmolek added nine and Morgan Schultz had eight.

The DC School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 to examine the financial accounting books for 2025, discuss the district's financial health, consider an at-risk dropout prevention program, consider an EOP plan, and consider a bid of $29,329.41 for collision repair on a bus.

The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday. The board will meet with the county engineer at 9 a.m. They will consider the resignation of Amber Steinbronn from the Davis County Treasurer's office. They will also hear committee and department reports.

The Davis County High School boys' and girls' track teams will begin their season Thursday with the Pekin Indoor Meet. The meet will be held on the Central College Campus in Pella at their indoor facility. The meet is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Emmitt Newton pinned Ethan Skogland of Sargeant Bluff-Lutton in 5:21 Saturday morning to advance to the third-place match. Newton suffered a 9-6 loss to Colin Cassady of West Liberty in that match. Newton finished fourth overall in the Class 2A 106-pound weight class.
