Burlington Notre Dame defeated Davis County 3-1 Monday night in the season opener. Burlington won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-15. DC won the third set 25-22 and Burlington Notre Dame won the fourth set 25-17.

The Lady Mustang basketball team improved to 5-2 overall with a 51-30 win over Cardinal Monday night. Halle Husted led the team with 12 points. Nadia Zmolek added nine and Morgan Schultz had eight.

The Mustang boys' basketball team scored a 59-48 win over Cardinal Monday night in South Central Conference play. Peyton Schooley led the offense with 23 points.

The Lady Mustang basketball team lost a 42-39 game to Albia Friday before securing a 62-41 win over Moravia in non-conference play. Davis County will host Cardinal Monday night. Action begins at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity game. The varsity game will follow at 6:15 p.m.

The Mustang boys' basketball team suffered an 81-46 loss to Albia on FRiday and a 74-56 loss to Moravia Saturday. The boys will host Cardinal Monday. Action begins at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity game. The varsity game will start at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The DC School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 to examine the financial accounting books for 2025, discuss the district's financial health, consider an at-risk dropout prevention program, consider an EOP plan, and consider a bid of $29,329.41 for collision repair on a bus.

The DC EMS Department has purchased a stair chair with $17,000 in funds provided by the Davis County Hospital Foundation. The chair is battery-powered and has treads that allow it to ascend or descend stairs and will hold up to 500 lbs. https://t.co/qlHEBsAE6O.

The Davis County Board of Supervisors will meet at 8:30 a.m. Monday. The board will meet with the county engineer at 9 a.m. They will consider the resignation of Amber Steinbronn from the Davis County Treasurer's office. They will also hear committee and department reports.

The Davis County School District will delay classes two hours and will run buses on hard surfaced roads only for Wednesday, Jan. 25.

The Davis County High School boys' and girls' track teams will begin their season Thursday with the Pekin Indoor Meet. The meet will be held on the Central College Campus in Pella at their indoor facility. The meet is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Emmitt Newton pinned Ethan Skogland of Sargeant Bluff-Lutton in 5:21 Saturday morning to advance to the third-place match. Newton suffered a 9-6 loss to Colin Cassady of West Liberty in that match. Newton finished fourth overall in the Class 2A 106-pound weight class.
