– A Typical New York Morning –
People who walk:
“Good morning, business owner!”
People who ride bikes:
“Good morning, business owner!”
People who ride transit:
“Good morning, business owner!”
People who drive:
“Parking here sucks. Fix it.”
@TheLIRRToday 39th Street to WFC is 8-9 minutes, but schedule is 15 min., so five min. drifting in from half a mile away.
LIC to DUMBO is 38 min. in winter, despite NYW doing it in 20. East River A route still takes 24 min. despite not stopping at either S. Williamsburg or Greenpoint.
@maxtmcc It seems like a natural outcome of coming of age in the age of grievance and tangled up in identity. If others get attention for it, you might, even unconsciously and non-specifically, gravitate towards a generalized pessimism.
I had so much fun joining the parents and kids of the awesome @BergenBikeBus, along with @NYCMayor, @CMChiOsse, @CMCrystalHudson, and other supporters.
Excited for @NYC_DOT to make Bergen and Dean Streets safer for our kids and all of us.
Last month we sent a letter to the @NYCMayor and @NYC_DOT urging them to prioritize a people first redesign of Dekalb and Lafayette, providing faster buses, safe east/west bike routes, and safer intersections. Our local elected officials joined in signing.
@Jmratcliffe3@HowsMyDrivingNY I’m sorry for the slow reply; I’m not here much these days.
On the website, you can use the type “State Court Justice” and for an API request you can use the type “JCA”
@dahvnyc “TikTok” because there’s only enough attention span for which actors and actions are currently in front of us.
Organizing around, in advance of, and after elections to advocate your interests has been collapsed into just an election.
I guess “Insta politics” works, too.
@dahvnyc I call it TikTok politics.
In lieu of a complex system of numerous interlocking individual and group interests that overlap in various ways over time, there’s only the self (or the self-group) and the head of power.
It’s an “audience of one” but in the other direction.
@krula@jonkentcomrade The account you’re replying to:
- is six months old
- has only memes and screenshots for photos
- suddenly has a hit tweet at only ~250 followers
- is trying to wedge apart Dem. voters
- has a practiced sass for every reply
Seems like an astroturfed account of some kind.
A discarded, contraflow bike sign lying in the slush and grime in a line of cars whose drivers have stolen the bike lane (for 15 days) because the parking lane has snow.
A perfect metaphor for a city whose snow response will inconvenience anyone but drivers.
@Nyc12Ed@NYC_DOT@TransAltBK I rode bikes last week, the week before, and to the site of this picture.
Now that I’ve met your arbitrary condition, do I get to hear you tell me that I’m right?
@JustinBrannan@WillABarclay He’s mistaken or lying, please don’t skip over that.
NY’s current election maps were drawn in 2022 by a special master appointed by the courts to create competitive state districts.
