Hopefully everyone roasts the HT show enough that FIFA never does it again. Stop ruining the sport with pale imitations of the worst parts of American sporting culture
While it's still HT and we're not officially eliminated yet: Regardless of the result, the USSF needs to back up the Brinks truck for Pochettino to keep him here. This is still the best USMNT ever, they're just not a top team.
For the second half, track the pass completion percentage for both teams when the ball is either "cleared" or played with something other than the foot. That is the best illustration of the gap in quality that anyone can see without any soccer background.
All the analysis on here and on the broadcast talking about the poor start like it's a nerves issue instead of the huge gap in quality. We can't get near them with pressure because they're too good with the ball, not because we're "playing soft"
We’ll see how the rest of this plays out, but I think being host actually hurts us right now. Feeling pressure to take initiative of the match instead of sitting in a mid-block
It’ll be a shame when after all the hype and outrage the USSF ends up banned from FIFA after a CAS case just for tonight to end in a comfortable 2-0 win for Belgium
I think the US might've just killed soccer. Two national federations choosing to go the route of litigation about a decision by the governing body is going to have huge ramifications forever.
@ThatCroatianGuy Force: high. But given the momentum of the players, you’d consider that excessive instead of reckless? Or arguing that there was intent to injure/violent conduct?
But I've definitely seen enough to know I want Pochettino to renew. Would love to see what we look like with a full cycle of him elevating his choice of players to this team and the platform it brings
A good performance from the US so far, and definitely the best ever version of this team. Still a very limited team though, these are the worst two teams that have played today.
