BREAKING: The popular Jay's Backyard BBQ restaurant in Chicago's Austin neighborhood was devastated by a kitchen fire this morning.

According to reports from the Chicago Fire Department, an employee was evacuated from the kitchen after the fire broke out and they are safe.

Video captured by @CourtSpinelliTV in SkyCam 9 shows the roof has collapsed.

Sad news for a loved business in that community.

As Illinois Secretary of State, your responsibility is the integrity and safety of our licensing system.

Yet, according to court records, a previously deported illegal immigrant using aliases and false identities; who testified he could not read, write, or communicate in either English or Spanish.
But he was still issued an Illinois driver's license under your watch.

Our family invested the time, money, and effort to make sure Katie was a responsible driver on our roads. We followed the rules because we believed the system existed to protect everyone.

He later drove drunk at nearly 80 mph and killed my daughter, Katie.

The tragedy of losing Katie is beyond words.

What's nearly as heartbreaking is knowing that the officials responsible for the policies and systems that failed her, including you and @GovPritzker, appear likely to face no accountability at all.

What's so disturbing is seeing you more focused on promoting political allies and public appearances than confronting the failures in your own processes that cost Illinois families their loved ones.
Your indifference to these failures, and your apparent disinterest in fixing them, will continue to put lives at risk.

Families like mine live with these consequences forever.
