we are about to finish our cheapest USA holidays

- airbnb 7 nights: $984.84
- supercharger (1 way so it will be x2): $68.70
- FSD 1 month: $106.67
- parks & rec & museums: $90.50
- food & drinks: $382.47
- gift shop: $116.00

total without the way back: $1,749.18
it will probably be $1,900 total for 8 days

food should be taken out of this because we cooked everything, there was $300 of walmart, which is probably what we would have spent at home anyway

this is about 1,300 miles so car fuel is about $140/1,300 mi = 10.8 cents per mile (i charged in the airbnb)

@grok how much would a small SUV (gasoline) cost for 1,300 miles with refueling in california (about $5.5/gal) and utah (about $4.0/gal)

people pay. people are honest. it's awesome.

in France there would be a fence, a barrier, and people would still find ways to drive beyond it or cheat the thing to get in without paying. and the dude in the booth would not be there before 9 and it would be closed outside of booth hours

especially annoying because connectivity is usually poor and you don't want to download a 50MB shitty app just to pay

j'y habite depuis 7 ans, pour moi c'est le jour et la nuit. ils n'essaient pas de resquiller ou jouer des coudes pour gruger. oui ça existe mais dans l'ensemble ils sont plus civilisés que les français

dans ce genre de conversation j'aime bien demander "ah oui quoi par exemple" et si la réponse est vague enchaîner avec "par exemple c'est quoi le truc le plus fou chez lui". si tu as une réponse c'est déjà pas mal (et assez rare), et la plupart du temps si tu poses une autre question c'est totalement finito
c'est souvent amusant car tu n'as même pas besoin d'argumenter, le fait qu'ils répètent bêtement ce qu'ils ont entendu sans savoir l'expliquer suffit généralement à les faire taire
