Join me in calling on @NigeriaHCLondon to support the immediate release of Babatunde Oluajo and two others who have been abducted by the Nigerian Security Services. Babs was my @sotonpolitics Masters classmate https://t.co/5Ky5iAASdr
And special thanks also to my wonderful supervisors @RosEdwards2 and @rft158. Overall it has been a really positive experience for which I am very thankful for.
Fantastic. @bea_gardner has passed her viva - no corrections! Thanks to @profnicolagale and Chris H from @UoS_socio_crim for thoughtful examining, and @rft158 for nurturing supervision. Cheers!
This is one of the hidden costs of precarity, around £600 of childcare costs that I could claim if my working hours and contract status aligned with reality!
My (semester based) contract doesn't start until teaching starts. Obviously I have to work now to prepare my lectures. To do that my child needs to be in nursery. But I can't claim a percentage of these costs back (via UC) because I'm "unemployed" and not entitled to childcare.
@jpandyawood Unfortunately, I wasn't able to present on "resignation as coping" for the SPA conference as my toddler caught every childhood illness possible ahead of my thesis deadline so had to prioritise that. Hope to emerge from the black hole soon.
@jpandyawood 1 in 3 childrens social workers leave within the first two years of qualifying. It is a huge responsibility, workload and with less support of experienced colleagues to assist.
@jpandyawood I've been reviewing the current state of staffing in childrens social care for the afterward in my thesis. There were more leavers than starters last year, meaning we have the fewest number of children social workers in the timeseries (2017).
@RosEdwards2 Having been absent from twitter for a long time what a nice tweet thread to return to. I too abandoned Nvivo. Paper, pens, crayons, post its and walls much better. Less marketable though. Unless anyone wants to launch a collapsible wall/ stationary set bumper pack with me?
It is widely known that photo ID disenfranchises some groups more than others esp. those without ID. Did not foresee how the experience of having ID checked also excludes and intimidates would be voters from participation. Many examples of both these on social media today.
@kslharrison@MossBros Oh no! Had hoped it was a misunderstanding but is it confirmed lost? Are you getting a refund? 🤔 not that it helps you have something to wear on 4 days
Have been on a Twitter break while on maternity leave but nothing like a UCU nation wide strike to lure me back. Solidarity to all picketers and strikers to day, I'll be joining the march next Wednesday ✊
‘We deserve better and we will stay until we get better’ - brilliant @lucy_worldwide returning to our picket. @ReadingUCU are lucky to have her 🥹 #ucuRISING
It is a very unique form of anxiety that comes with knowing peak hospital admissions coincides exactly with the due date/periord for your baby. The NHS is already under enormous pressure and maternity services are chronically understaffed. Hoping extra hard for no complications.
@bennopt @AshKingdon We got bolstered yesterday and they didnt tell us... or give us anything to say we had it? I feel a bit paranoid like maybe we just got injected with water. Although, josh has horrendous side effects so maybe not..
I haven't ever deleted photos off my phone since I got it three years ago. The situation has spiralled out of control (11,000 images). Any advice on how to get on top of the situation, keeping the (minority) of long term keeps and clearing the rest? 🤔😬
