As opening prices from the country's major milk processors were slowly released over the past two weeks, news they have slashed offers to farmers have sent sour waves of anger rippling through the industry. https://t.co/v6asaq0bQ1
@GingerGorman To me the blue tick was always what it was suppose to. The person who may be ‘influential’ in whatever way verified they were who they said they were. Removing it is going to help spread fake info and make it harder to tell fact from fiction. See Monica Lewinsky’s recent tweet.
@MrDenmore@latingle And public expectations of what government will & should do is increasing… with no discussion on how it actually gets paid for… it seems crazy.
@tinyumbrellas@SenatorJordon I don’t disagree. From personal experience the NDIS are increasingly denying existing needs. It is also the fastest growing expenditure for govt. Any enquiry needs to consider how the NDIS is going to be funded in the long term. Otherwise its lost of promises and no delivery.
@SenatorJordon Clearly reform for support for ADHD is needed. But the NDIS is already struggling to fund commitments it has made to people who are physically disabled. How does the NDIS get reformed to enable new additions? It cant just keep being added to- the money pile isn’t infinite.
This is wild. A proposal to put 35 townhouses on a surface parking lot in Bentleigh has been rejected by the local council AND the appeals tribunal because of "unacceptable neighbourhood character outcomes".

Albanese Government has had 8 months to fulfil one of its core election promises. Permanent protection for refugees in limbo in Australia for past decade. It requires no laws or support from another party. Enough is enough. Email the PM demanding action https://t.co/hTrTJ7ywyQ
Handcuffing in immigration detention puts asylum seekers in an impossible position – either accept harm and distress from being handcuffed, even where unjustified, or lose access to healthcare. Important work by our asylum seeker rights team.

With the election of the Albanese government comes opportunities for real progress on the decades-long campaign to end the cruelty of live animal export.
But how do we keep pressure on and push the new government to act swiftly?
Economists are worried:
“(A) system that's radically benefited current older Australians throughout their lifetimes…”
"The intergenerational bargain is starting to fray."
"We've reduced social mobility..” https://t.co/HfkZ95mpsV
@GGrucilla What is the term you suggest for the types of roles they are trying to refer to? This is a sincere question so I can do better in using the right language. “Roles that have no education requirements”? Any other short hand?
Funding for citizenship; visas and migration management falls from $822m in 21-22 to $785m in 22-23; $624m in 23-24. All while this function is in gridlock while offshore visa applications will soar. Could only result in more gridlock. #Migration#Budget2022
