In 1969, 32-year-old Margaret Hamilton led the team that wrote the onboard software for Apollo 11. With just 72 KB of memory and punch-card programming, her code had to be https://t.co/0yUoOCL4fG was. Minutes before touchdown, the Apollo Guidance Computer triggered overload alarms. Hamilton’s built-in error-detection and priority system instantly shed non-critical tasks, keeping the lunar module on course. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed safely because her software refused to fail.Hamilton didn’t just help put humans on the Moon—she coined the term “software engineering” and invented many of the resilient coding practices we still use today. A pioneering woman in STEM who literally wrote the code that changed history.
Harpo Marx was born today in 1888.
The Big Store (1941) is the only Marx Brothers movie to feature Chico and Harpo performing a piano duet. Unsurprisingly, it's a work of absolute genius.
In a protest against censorship in film, photographer Whitey Schafer staged this iconic photograph violating as many rules of the Hayes Code as possible in one shot, 1934
Parents who sit alone aren’t avoiding people.
They are avoiding negativity, drama, and complaining.
They just want to watch their kid play… without the noise.
It’s Monday afternoon, and there are hundreds of people gathered around the remnants on a wall, listening to a baseball game from 1960 and updating a scoreboard someone made. I love this city and sport.
Charlie Morton, An Absolute real one. (Story time)
I played against Charlie, but I got to know him a little in 2014.
I was a minor league invite to spring training with #Pittsburgh even though I was technically in minor league camp, I ended up in Major League camp pretty much every single day.
Teams will do this to save money and have an extra big guy without having to put them on the roster or give them Major League spring training housing or money.
I was also not given any Major League equipment or apparel so I didn’t have extra shorts or T-shirts or a hoodie. This made things a bit awkward with me having different sets than everyone else but still doing all the same things.
We had a chilly day in camp and I asked the clubbie if I could get a pull over or hoodie for the game.
The clubbie told me no. I mean straight up no chance in hell… Charlie stepped up and said “Hey Mac, take mine.”
I told him Thank you but he didn’t have to do that, he said it was no biggie and that he was honoring my service time. Despite being in minor league camp he knew I had a decent major league career and that I should have gotten a hoodie.
I loved that respect from a guy who was a leader on and off the field!
Little things matter! Charlie will always have my respect.

45 years ago today, July 25, 1980, the golf comedy classic "Caddyshack" opened at a theater near you.
Back when comedies had balls, shafts, holes and worst looking hats.
“Oh, it looks good on you, though.”

Remember when Edwin Moses was a sweet hurdling bastard? Motherfucker won 122 races in a row jumping over shit while looking like a founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire. We were witnesses.
