We are gravely alarmed by the Israeli attacks currently underway in Baalbek-Hermel, Lebanon. Thousands of people, including our staff who have long supported local communities in the region, are currently seeking safety, interrupting essential humanitarian activities in the area.
The evacuation order given by Israeli forces for Baalbek city and surrounding areas forces the entire community to flee with neither sufficient time nor safety, endangering people´s lives. We call on Israeli authorities to prioritise the safety and dignity of all civilians – wherever they are.
In recent weeks our colleagues in Baalbeck-Hermel worked on ensuring the continuation of care for 4,972 patients with chronic diseases and provided more than 1,000 general medical consultations to internally displaced people.
NEW: ‘A Cartography of Genocide’. Since October 2023, we have collected and analysed data related to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Our findings indicate that Israel has systematically targeted all aspects of civilian life. https://t.co/UUxYqpTF72
Doctors without Borders is outraged by the repeated killings of our staff in #Gaza and calls for an immediate halt on attacks of medical personnel, humanitarian workers and civilians.
Instead of expressing "concern" about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, isn't it time we stopped supplying Israel with the weapons that have caused the catastrophe in the first place?
A minister is refusing to release three documents that link the Department for Work and Pensions with the deaths of benefit claimants, despite criticising DWP only last month for “absurdly” refusing to comply with similar freedom of information requests.

In the last 24 hours Israel has:
- opened fire on UN peacekeeping forces in 3 bases
- killed 28 refugees in a school in Gaza
- killed 40 plus civilians in Central Beirut
and Nelson Mandela's grandson has been banned from the UK for criticising Israel.
Dystopia is here now.
Breaking damn news: (please amplify far and wide)
1- The Israeli army is besieging people in Jabalia and Beit Lahia. Anyone goes out in the street will be shot by quadcopters.
2- Families are unable to go out and find food and water.
3- Ambulances no longer can take the wounded and patients from the Kamal Odwan Hospital in Beit Lahia to the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza for some surgeries available there because the tanks have separated north Gaza from Gaza City.
And again- Beirut’s sky is on fire tonight.
We said for a year that impunity in #Gaza will lead to more violence- and here it is, today is Lebanon, tomorrow will be someone else’s turn.
#Accountability now
#CeasefireNow!
We continue to march because we refuse to let the memory of Palestinians die.
We continue to demand an end to all arms sales to Israel.
We continue to speak up for the only path to a just and lasting peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.
The bombs raining on Beirut now are destroying our city- They, and the tanks on our borders are also the last nail in the coffin of any belief in a humanitarian human order, international law, and global justice. It is even scarier to imagine the future now than to hear the bombs
#Lebanon: There was a huge series of blasts and bombardments last night in densely populated areas in South #Beirut. The situation is chaotic.
Thousands of people, including our colleagues, had to flee their homes in the dark with nothing, some fled on foot. Over 500 schools are full. People slept in cars on the streets. Hospitals are overwhelmed with the wounded.
Our teams are working around the clock to deliver water, hygiene kits, and blankets. So far, they have delivered 400 kits of basic relief items. We are also offering psychological first aid, while continuing to assess people's needs.
As the Israeli bombardment campaign of Lebanon continues, we reiterate our call that civilians and healthcare workers must be protected.
If you understand that Beirut is an international city, in a sovereign country, inhabited by people with lives like you and me, how can you stay silent when 2000lb bombs are dropped on densely populated quarters?
I cannot comprehend. Unless you participate to the dehumanisation.
Israel has been bombing Beirut nonstop for nearly 4 hours now.
Israeli warships are participating in the aggression for the first time since 2006.
It is a genocidal assault no different than what is been done to Gaza.
