Three years of resistance. Three years of gratitude. Three years of absolute heroism of Ukrainians. I am proud of Ukraine! I thank everyone who defends and supports it. Everyone who works for Ukraine. And may the memory of all those who gave their lives for our state and people be eternal. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

3 years ago today, I and many others sitting in a Twitter Space, watched through news feeds, livestreams, satellite imagery, and pictures/videos as Russia launched a full-scale invasion against the the sovereign nation of Ukraine, beginning the largest and most important war in Europe since the end of WWll. Advancing from Belarus, Crimea, and Western Russia into the country, as air and missile strikes rained down on Ukrainian cities; initial expectations were grim, the Russian military was larger and more advanced, with some expecting Kyiv and a vast majority of Ukraine to fall within days if not hours. However, through the strength and determination of the Ukrainian people, and with support from allies and partners in the United States, Europe and across the world, Ukraine has held, pushing Russian forces out of Northern Ukraine and away from cities and region in the East and South. These battles and offensives will live on in history books, as civilian and military casualties in the war have well surpassed a million, with it remaining ongoing over 1,000 days later. Ukraine continues to fight the Russians in the East, and until Russia decides to finally withdraw or a peace settlement is agreed upon, Ukrainians will continue to fight and die for their homeland while Russians will continue to fight and die for nothing except the ego of Vladimir Putin.
