Beam 2.5.6 Beta has been live for a week and some of you have already uploaded profiles. Here's what to expect next.
Community profiles are Steam-only for now. Partly because the Steam Workshop is an awesome solution that all Beam users (incl. Standalone) will eventually be able to use to find profiles that meet their needs. And partly, because we're a small team, and trying to focus efforts on requested features like Linux support.
If you're on standalone and publishing profiles is a critical feature for you, for example if you are content creator, reach out at [email protected] with your account email and we'll switch your license manually.
Beam Eye Tracker v2.5.6 Beta is out. You can now share and browse Immersive Camera profiles directly via Steam Workshop, plus a new Pause to Center hotkey, separate head/eye tracking toggles.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my thoughts on the latest update for Beam Eye Tracker—version 2.5.5 dropped recently, and it's honestly a game-changer. The big headline is Direct Game Camera Control, which they've been building up through an open beta, and now it's here in full force.
Basically, Beam now hooks straight into compatible games without needing Opentrack running separately in the background. No more juggling extra apps—just smoother, more seamless head and eye tracking for controlling your in-game camera. They integrated Opentrack's components directly into Beam, so it's still there under the hood if you want it, but for supported titles, you can skip the middleman entirely. They call this probably their biggest release yet, and after reading through it, I can see why.
The new Default Profile is optimized right out of the box for this direct mode, with a nice "natural movement" feature enabled by default: it links your camera position (like leaning forward or sideways) to where your head is actually pointing. So if you lean forward while looking down, it feels way more intuitive instead of moving in a fixed direction. You can toggle that off if you prefer the old-school way.
For those who like to tinker, there's a whole Advanced Controls section under Immersive Camera. You can fine-tune deadzones, max output, responsiveness, invert axes, set thresholds for head vs. eye movements, and adjust each DoF individually (head yaw/pitch/roll/x/y/z, plus eye horizontal/vertical). Super detailed for power users.
They also added a proper Profiles system—create, switch, duplicate, and share them easily. Your old settings migrate over automatically, and there's a "Freetrack 2.0" toggle to flip between direct mode and classic Opentrack output.
→ Other nice touches:
▫ Hotkeys now support joysticks, gamepads, wheels, mice, etc., with multi-binding (up to 3 per action) and no mandatory modifiers.
▫ Smoother tracking with less jitter on tiny movements, better performance even if your webcam is only 15-30 fps, and some CPU/power optimizations.
▫ Bug fixes like no more crashes with Nvidia Broadcast, better antivirus detection on startup, and the app shows up properly in Windows settings.
▫ UI tweaks: double-click tray icon opens the full app, eye overlay scales better, recenter overlay visibility options, and they cleaned up the Quick Access panel.
▫ Localization got updates, including initial Polish support.
For setup, it points you to their game guides page (https://t.co/lLSPjOFaGp) for specific titles—things like Star Citizen, F1 games, or Farming Simulator might need tweaks, but the default profile gives a solid cockpit-ready baseline for most.
Overall, this feels like a huge step toward making eye/head tracking dead simple and immersive without extra hassle. If you're into sims, racing, or anything where looking around naturally adds to the experience, definitely worth checking out—especially since there's a 10% launch discount going on for the standalone version.
What do you think—anyone already tried it in their favorite game? 🚀
