Some of you never loved Namping as a person. You loved the version of him that existed to satisfy your ship fantasies.
You don't want him to grow. You don't want him to succeed on his own. You don't want him to be seen as an actor. You want him to remain useful to your narrative forever.
After years in the BL fandom, I've come to one conclusion: some shippers don't actually support actors, they support ownership.
Namping has spent years being treated like an accessory to his screen partner instead of a person with his own career, ambitions, and identity. People constantly criticize his appearance, his mannerisms, and even make disgusting comments about his sexuality, all while pretending they're his fans.
And now that he finally gets his own series and a chance to play a dark lead role outside the image people forced onto him, suddenly the mask is slipping.
Some people don't hate the role. They hate the fact that Namping is no longer staying inside the little box they built for him.
The reaction to UKE The Series made that painfully obvious. The same people who can spend hours promoting ship content, can use ship tags suddenly go silent when it's time to support Namping's own project. Some avoid using official tags, some show little to no excitement.
Nobody is obligated to like every series. But let's stop pretending this is just about personal taste.
Because when hateful comments mocking him and dragging his sexuality into the conversation receive massive support, likes, and bookmarks, it says more about the fandom than it does about Namping.
An actor's sexuality should never become a source of ridicule. The obsession some people have with forcing real human beings into "seme" and "uke" stereotypes is honestly disturbing.
And let's be real: the people doing this are usually not antis. They're the very people who claim to love and support him.
And the saddest part is that many of you will continue calling yourselves fans while actively participating in the very behavior that holds him back.
