I really just went to argue on a post about a guy calling some simulation program an AI.
I clicked the profile and every post was 'enhanced' with AI.
So we have just screwed up the last 2 decades worth of program evolution for nothing
The @NJDevils are not exactly beating the "Quinn Hughes trade mentally broke us" accusations.
The team posted a photo of the Tkachuk brothers and the Hughes brothers published by USA Hockey ... and awkwardly edited out Quinn. 😵💫
Me shooting photos at the rink, 8:45pm on a Monday, in 5° wind chill, watching two seventeen year olds trip each other at the blue line.
Yes. The Spirit of Sport
I think it’s even more relevant when we’re talking about racing games.
Emulators will never work perfectly on this genre because how they were coded — a lot of the games’ wheel functions were programmed in the assumptions of a specific hardware. For example, some PS2 games will not give you friction effects because the hardware you emulating is a gear driven wheel that already has a ton of friction. Basically it’s almost impossible to recreate all of the values of different wheels. Unlike other games where the “feeling” of the game is 100% dictated by code, arcade racing games are quite different: half of how the game feels are dictated by the hardware. How heavy the driveshafts are, how strong the magnets are, how much rotation the hardware can turn, etc.
the game code doesn’t push exact values, meaning the only code happening is just “push the wheel to the right 80% for 500ms”. This means the effects will be different if you swapped the wheel motors or trying to emulate the game with a different hardware.
not to mention there’s very little demand in racing arcade preservation with a wheel.
But sadly, most of these arcade racing games are literally extinct because it has much more moving parts and the supply never been much
It took months of planning to get the drone flying where we wanted it, but this shot was worth all the paperwork. Kudos to pilot Jerry Peterson for his execution! Watch for this more often on @SeattleKraken Kraken Hockey Network. #SEAKraken
