Strength training is a key component of how to maintain a healthy body, reduce injury risk, reduce time it takes to return from injury and to enhance performance.
Jim performs strength based training 3x per week. He loves it!

A nice visual detailing how common disc bulges are in asymptomatic populations. As we age, the incidence increases. A nice review by Brinjikiji et al (2015).
Disc bulges are normal, and do not necessarily equate to pain.

Thought for the day.
Do patients in pain care that people without pain have similar looking MRI scans?
“It’s a bit like telling poor people that rich people have problems too.” ( quoting a patient)
Thoughts? 😊
I love this little sketch. Hearing someone report a slipped disc is common occurrence as a physiotherapist. It is terminology that implies a weakness/vulnerability of our backs.
Our backs are strong and stable structures, and discs don’t slip. Time to change our terminology
Movement is Medicine!
This is awesome. A great video that exemplifies freedom of movement. The concepts of play, exploration and creativity are all clear to see. The integration of the whole body, moving through multiple planes, at varying speeds. Love it
