@ahmedhh2003 @JigglesWalnuts@theraegandavis consider this: my friend is 60 & retired dying of covid. she took care of her elderly mother & grandchildren during quarentine. now her daughter (30s) has had to quit her job to be the caregiver to grandma and kids. even one death of a retired person can have ripple effect.
@Ohshitjavad@GavinNewsom *for reference: normal schedule for RNs (in california) is three 12hr shifts. most travel contracts make you do at least 4 shifts a week. and you’re always getting the worst assignements cause we know how much more money you’re making. so these nurses are rightfully exhausted.
@Ohshitjavad@GavinNewsom true. i think that’s what worked during the “1st wave”. Stipends for travel nurses. Now so many more places are being affected, competition for these nurses is insane. Also, a lot of them have been travel nursing since march and are ready for a break to see their families.
i go on twitter about once a month. i see how cray people are, i waste my time replying to strangers, and then promptly forget about this platform for another month. see ya’ll in 2021 ✌🏼 #WearYourDamnMaskPlease
@Ohshitjavad@GavinNewsom in reality capacity has a lot to do with trained nurses. you can’t really train ICU nurses in 6 months. and even if you could, not a lot of volunteers to work 12 hr days in full PPE with zero breaks. but totally agree should have better addressed rent/small business.
@missterb000@GavinNewsom can only speak for my hospital... our typical medical icu capacity is ~39 beds. since covid we’ve brought in dozens of travel nurses and icu capacity is in the 50s. now we are losing travelers, and still expected to staff 50 beds. so 100% is actually more than 100% of pre covid
Just to be clear: there is nothing “pro-life” about denying people comprehensive sexual education, making birth control harder to access, forcing others to give birth against their will, and stripping them of healthcare and food assistance afterwards.
Wanting Biden to win this election, doesn’t mean I turn my brain off & agree with everything he does. These aren’t teams to root for. These are elected leaders to be held accountable.
Your person winning is the beginning of your participation, not the end.
In the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, JP Morgan Chase just posted one of its best quarters ever, raking in $4.7B in profit.
