The podcast thing was too much. I've had to quit reading all of that. The constant social media talk about what women can and can't do had me questioning whether as a woman I should even, talk, write, or post about the Gospel, which is so sad. It makes me wonder how many female voices are stepping back. If we (both men and women) aren't talking about Jesus, who is?
@BethMooreLPM And now we're headed to the Cove next week as grandmothers to learn from you once again in this season. Thank you and your team for being such a constant and encouraging part of our spiritual journey - helping us to love the Bible and want to know Jesus more every day.
@BethMooreLPM My 2 dear friends and I have walked with you from afar for so many years. We went to a Deeper Still event probably 20 years ago when we were young moms, and did so many (maybe all) of your studies through the years with a precious group of women from multiple denominations.
@virgilwalker I have always loved Andrae Crouch's My Tribute (To God Be the Glory). The chorus will make your heart soar. The CeCe Winans/Natalie Grant version too.
With His blood He has saved me,
With His power He has raised me;
To God be the glory
For the things He has done.
@BethMooreLPM A stray German Shepherd named Nala
showed up at our farm a few days ago. She brought me this armadillo, as a token of Mother’s Day affection , this morning. I know the picture is too much, but it underscores that there is truly no rest for the weary….
@KSPrior Yes it is. There are no words, and no one can prepare you. My heart and prayers go out to you in these days that are too short and yet so very long. 2 Cor 4:16-18 was a comfort to me while I sat with my Dad years ago. "Though outwardly we are wasting away..."
@BethMooreLPM LPL was so wonderful, Beth . Thankful you were able to get through it and praying for you in the days ahead. I love a visual, so I have this one in my car as a reminder that we don’t get rid of our stuff without God’s help. Added benefit of always having coffee with me. Ha.
@BethMooreLPM Praying you through this weekend Beth -that your pain will be manageable. We GA girls will be there to lift you up and carry you on the mat right to Jesus if we need to. Even if you need to cancel, be at peace - God has been and will continue to be glorified through you.
For me, it is an important distinction to think of God as being at our side, not on our side.
He is present with all of us in both the good things and the awful things of this broken world. He yearns for us all to know him and to come rest at His side.
When @TimKellerNYC was 24 years old, he was a new pastor in rural Virginia. Alice was an elderly Christian who had suffered enormously in her life.
More than four decades later, Keller still remembered her perspective.
My dear MIL is a 3x breast cancer survivor, has had major cervical spine surgery, lumbar degeneration, and severe neuropathy. This woman knows pain. She's had wonderful and compassionate doctors through the years, but 2 years ago, her neurologist (who we caught in a mood) looked at her and said "sometimes you just have to hurt." Not today, buddy, and not on my watch. We moved on until we found someone who would help her. Praying for healing, relief, and help for you, Beth.
@SHoddeMiller that we’ve forgotten about making disciples and serving this broken world. Some days it makes me want to crawl into a hole. But that doesn’t serve God either. Lord help us see and do the main thing. ❤️
@SHoddeMiller This expresses what so many of us feel so well. Every where we turn (esp social media) people of faith are calling each other out, denominations that used to work together are canceling each other out, and we are all so busy pronouncing who is and isn’t getting into heaven…
@griffingulledge So sorry, Griffin. 17 is an especially tender age to lose your Mom. I know you miss her every day but especially at life’s precious milestones. Such a great picture. Prayers for comfort and sweet memories.
@MikeCosper I do believe that the idea of serving one another in humility (depicted by feet washing here) without labels or name-calling is a wonderful place to start, and that is where we earn the right to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. 2/2
@MikeCosper I think it’s hard for the world to hear any message about Jesus right now over the constant roar between believers. We as Christians have become so divided, and so unable to see the good in each other that any message about Jesus gets lost. 1/2
