Wherever possible, please do support your local bookshop. 📚
Independent booksellers add so much character to a high street or town, plus they go above and beyond to support authors.

Earlier this month I was interviewed by @UniOfHull about their Career e-Mentoring Programme.
Thanks to David Simpson, Matt Beecroft and Jill Smithson for the opportunity, and of course Sam Cawley and the team at @Blink_Video for capturing everything. 📸 🎬
The house where I grew up, 174 Hathersage Road, #Hull (HU8 0EW), is now for sale. 🏡 It's a lovely home in a peaceful neighbourhood, close to Gillshill and Cavendish primary schools, Malet Lambert secondary school, East Park and the Lambwath pub. https://t.co/Q0mHHL5xXN
Fresh Ink, a new playwriting festival by @MiddleChildHull, comes to @FruitMarketHull this weekend.
The festival presents brand-new plays, workshops, industry talks, and a keynote speech from the artistic director of the Royal Court.

Did you know that @MindCharity runs Side by Side, an online peer support community? It's a safe space where you can talk about your #MentalHealth and connect with others who understand what you're going through.

11. This is what approaching the Statue of Unity in India looks like.
It's the tallest statue in the world: standing at 182 meters (597 ft) tall, it's nearly three times the height of the Statue of Liberty.
Yesterday I received an unexpected but very welcome email from the Guardian. My dad's obituary, which was published online in March, is in today's printed edition (page 11 of the Journal section). It's amazing to know that so many more people will get to read about his life. ❤️
Only one building in London is allowed to have a thatched roof — the Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare acted and plays like Hamlet were first performed.
But this isn't the original Globe Theatre; that burned down 400 years ago.
This one is less than 30 years old...
I'd like to once again thank everyone who donated in memory of my dad, Ian Sutherland. The final amount comes to £587.83 plus £133.04 in Gift Aid, which makes £720.87 in total for @RSPCAHull. ❤️

150 years ago today, at precisely 8pm, the world of art changed forever.
What happened? A small, independent art exhibition opened in Paris.
It was a financial failure and barely 3,000 people went — but, in time, these artists would come to be known as "the Impressionists"...
.@xsarahpenney has been looking after the marquee that's currently on Stage@TheDock in @FruitMarketHull, which will soon host @MiddleChildHull's latest show, 'Baby, He Loves You'.
Make sure to see this amazing show and support the local arts sector: https://t.co/bxgcW5TDLs
