This was a fun one to write, and it’s even more fun to hear it.
My mama tried to do the same but when the time came the company had a backlog of bodies due to Covid and declined to pick her up.
If she’d still been alive, she would’ve been outraged. Calls would’ve been made.
Alas, I’m meeker than she was so I just arranged for cremation.
My mom asked for her body to be donated to science (because she loved doing dissections in her anatomy classes, the freak lol), and it made everything SO easy. Some people came with a van and took her body and that was that. I was so grateful to not have to organize cremation.
Querying question—when describing your novel as “for fans of xx” are you using your comp titles?
I want to use an older (early 2000s) bestseller which I know is a no-no for comps.

I’ve only found out in the last couple of years that my husband (we’ve been together twenty years) doesn’t like coconut. Our WEDDING CAKE was coconut. He knew I liked it and just went along. ❤️
My husband has been lying to me for years.
Ever since we started dating, whenever we order pancakes and they come with strawberries on top, he always pushes the strawberries onto my plate. I never questioned it. I just assumed he didn’t like them.
On one of our first brunch dates, I remember picking all the strawberries off my stack first. He noticed. After that, every single time, his strawberries somehow ended up with mine.
It became routine. He’d slide them over. I’d eat them. I genuinely believed he hated strawberries.
The other weekend, we went out for breakfast again. Feeling playful, I lifted one off my plate and said, “Do you want one?”
Without thinking, he said, “Yeah,” and ate it like it was the most normal thing in the world.
I stared at him. “Wait… you like strawberries?”
He laughed. “Of course I do.”
“So why have you been giving me yours for years?”
He shrugged and said, “Because i know you love them. And I love watching you enjoy them.”
And just like that my heart just melted, because for years I whole-heartedly believed this man hated strawberries.
But no.
He loves them.
He just loves me more.

@writingwithreed We don’t go to the doctor for every minor illness. The DOCTOR says not to unless a fever persists or kiddo isn’t eating/drinking well. I’m already dreading navigating this when my little guy is old enough for school.
Writing longhand unlocks the creative juices like nothing else. Something about tapping the pen against paper when I’m trying to think of a word.
Bonus? I can use all the em dashes I want since I can prove all writing is my own!
This plain old notebook from the grocery store is 20 pages or so away from being completely filled with my new manuscript. Proud and also absolutely dreading the hours and hours of transcription ahead.

Yep! Learned on a rusted out S10 & then moved on to my Mom’s Saab with the super sensitive clutch. I’ve owned two stick shift pickups since. I think it’s a valuable life skill, especially living on a farm & using tractors. My kiddo will definitely learn.
Man, what a disturbing read. That poor, poor wolf. And the drunks who were no doubt cheering this on should all be prosecuted too but of course they won’t be.

@DestryBrod It’s hard, I’m so sorry. 💔 I lost both my parents pretty young. But know that your health & happiness is what matters most to them. Take the time to grieve. And then honor them by living.
