A big year for beavers 🦫
From supporting the first wild beaver release in England to expanding our education programme.
These steps bring us closer to restoring Britain's beaver population.
Thank you to all our supporters, we couldn’t do this without you
“Nothing can prepare you before you see what the beavers do.”
After years of setbacks, flooding, fencing and even a burst sewage pipe, the beaver family are transforming BCN Wildlife Trust's Nene Wetlands.

During the sensitive Kit Dependency Period, we don't trap or translocate to minimise disruption.
If you have beavers locally, look for lactating females taking a break from feeding kits, or see the kits later this summer. Please follow the Beaver Code:

Beaver kits might be spotted soon, but while we wait, we thought it was a good opportunity to look back at the 2025/26 release season and see the impact of our work on the ground: 61 beavers in new homes across Britain!
Thank you for your support 🦫
We’re delighted that our Head of Restoration, Dr Roisin Campbell-Palmer, has been named in the ENDS Power List 2026.
The annual list recognises individuals making a significant contribution to environmental protection, nature recovery and the future of the environmental sector.

#BeaversAcrossBritain - what an event! 🦫
We want to thank the speakers who shared their knowledge, our attendees, and those who made the event possible. If you missed the event we will be releasing a selection of talks online soon.
Over the last two days, 300+ people have come together to explore the future of beaver restoration.
A huge thank you to @ChrisGPackham for his support and message to delegates at our conference dinner, and to @EcotalkMobile for helping create space for nature’s recovery.
Welcome attendees as our #BeaversAcrossBritain conference opens! People from across science, practice and policy are coming together to share knowledge, shaping the future of beaver restoration across Britain.

@millermarkg@ForestryLS@NatureScot Thank you for your question. This pair is part of a larger project with a license to release 15 families over five years. They will not be the sole founders of the population. As a wild population, they will disperse and meet other populations over time, enhancing diversity.
Yesterday, we were thrilled to release a pair of beavers into @ForestryLS's Loch Morlich. This is an exciting step in establishing a wild population in the Spey catchment, under licence from @NatureScot, realising the vision set out in Scotland’s Beaver Strategy. 1/4
@NatCareLiving Thank you for your comment, supporting farmers and landowners is important to us. You may be interested in our Getting Beaver Ready briefing that calls for more support for farmers: https://t.co/fErh0hBvkE

Signalling through scent
Now is peak scent-marking season for beavers, as dispersing youngsters seek territories, and families defend theirs. Scent mounds signal occupancy, reduce conflict and share clues on condition.
Showing how social and communicative beavers are.
