@LF48987808@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie Not every law in the Mosaic covenant had the same function. Dietary laws were ceremonial and to separate Israel from surrounding nations.Slavery was an established social institution.God doesn’t outright ban divorce and polygamy either. Matthew 19:8 helps understand this topic.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie You’re just arguing axioms and shifting the burden. I can see that you’re not going to engage in this conversation in good faith as I’ve refuted you multiple times. I’ll pray for you. God bless you and good bye.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie “Instantly”, He gave Sodom and Gomorrah and the people during Noah’s Ark hundreds of years. The instantly came after hundreds of years. God spared Nineveh for repenting, God delayed Canaanite’s judgment until their iniquity was complete in Genesis 15:16.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie You cant use the words evil and wicked that presupposes a higher power sets an objective moral standard.God could have destroyed people for lying, adultery, idolatry. Why didn’t He just destroy everyone? There are times God judges and other times where God works with humanity
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie I’m not denying that the mosaic laws regulated slavery, I’m rejecting your assertion that regulation equates to endorsement. Matthew 19:8 proves that certain laws were concessions to the hardness of humanity’s heart. You insulting me emotionally shows your argument has no ground.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie Your point makes no sense, either He instantly abolishes slavery or He endorses it? Why can’t the there be a third possibility where He regulates an existing institution while provrsssively revealing a higher ethic? You not being able to conceptualize this concept is sad.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie What is ‘evil’? That is a religious term you cannot frame without a standard above humanity. Is it wicked subjectively or objectively? He does have a problem with slavery. You call me a liar when you take a single statement and apply them to every single context without logic.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie You keep saying it’s endorsed in the Bible when I’ve proven time and time again that regulation ≠ endorsement, you’re being intellectually dishonest. Yes the abolition of slavery was achieved from a Christian foundation, there is no basis without Christian ethics.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie I never said He met Sodom and Gomorrah where they were, but He gave them a lot of time to repent. You’re being illogical just because God meets humanity where they are as a whole doesn’t mean in every instance He will. He gave people over a hundred years to repent for Noah’s time
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie God regulates polygamy in exodus and Deuteronomy. Does that mean He endorses it?God warns Israel they will suffer for rejecting him as king in 1 Samuel 8 and gives the Israelites their requested king .So yes in some context God judges and others he meets humanity where they are.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie God is a righteous judge. My verses clearly address your point. God does not take pleasure in it but since he is righteous he will judge. Ezekiel 33:11, 2 Peter 3:9. Just because God has cast judgment before doesn’t mean he doesn’t give humanity the opportunity to change.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie Again God doesn’t explicitly ban many things that doesn’t mean it’s an endorsement. There was a process of divorce in the OT but Matthew 19:8 shows that God does not agree with divorce. This clearly paints a difference between regulation and endorsement. Why don’t you focus?
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie He gave Sodom and Gomorrah ample time to repent and would’ve spared them if there were righteous people. Israel was judged several times throughout the Bible, and no slavery is not endorsed its regulated and constrained ultimately leading to abolition.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie It has everything to do with the Bible.
Genesis 18:16-33
2 Peter 3:9
Ezekiel 33:11
Matthew 19:8
Hebrews 1:1-2
I can go on and on, you don’t seem to actually know the Bible, only cherry picked verses out of context.
@Alexanderthemi4@2EdgedClaymore@prolifefrenchie It’s called progressive revelation. Jesus states Moses allowed divorce because our hearts were hard but in the beginning it was not so. God meets humanity where they are and lays the foundation for humans to change. Banning does not work with humans, and we see that in history.
@ixg313@akven0m@ryandavid42@YaseenSeekTruth@mattvanswol Why did you leave out the “In the name of Christ” part he said with that? Hebrews 11 lists many people in the Old Testament who were saved despite not meeting Christ. So yes it’s disingenuous of you to cite OT in reply when Christ had yet to walk the earth in those chapters.
@ixg313@akven0m@ryandavid42@YaseenSeekTruth@mattvanswol Disingenuous to cite Old Testament passages established under the old covenant without including context from the new one under Christ. He said kill in the name of Christ. Christians doing acts contrary to the text does not prove your point. The Quran has direct calls to violence
