Harper’s Bazaar: MISAMO has continued its unit activities and released its first full-length album in Japan this year. On your solo track “Ma Cherry” fans got to hear your soft, delicate vocals. Last year, you also took on a solo song, “DECAFFEINATED” for TWICE’s 10th anniversary album.
“Since I haven’t had many opportunities to do solo activities, everything I’m getting to try now feels really fun and meaningful. I like that even at this stage of my career, there are still things I can experience for the first time and so many things I want to try. I think if I had started doing them earlier, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed this process as much.
‘Ma Cherry’ is a song with a really catchy rhythm. There isn’t a full choreography for it yet, so I hope that one day I’ll be able to perform the complete song on stage.
‘DECAFFEINATED’ is a powerful song that brings to mind a charismatic, alluring woman. It’s the kind of song whose vibe can change depending on the styling, so performing it on stage was a lot of fun.”
Harper’s Bazaar: Have you also talked a lot with the members about the days ahead and your future together?
“I think the biggest desire we have is that we want to support each other in whatever we each want to do. And I think the most important thing is not getting sick. Whether it’s physically or mentally, it’s hard to endure when you’re hurting. We often tell each other, ‘Let’s stay healthy first.’
Also, this time, our member Dahyun participated in a movie as an actress. Just like that, I like that we can watch each other pursue what we each hope to do and support one another.”
This is such a lame list and honestly I find that beautiful.
It’s the universality of cringe but earnest “born in the wrong generation” teenage angst being distilled in a completely seperate culture that makes me love it.
