This project was the first personalized video game I've ever played. Video games usually take place in alternate or far away worlds, but playing one where I was the main character running around UMD's campus was a fun, interesting, and new experience. #CapstoneFair @umd_dcc

Very interesting video about the album Trout Mask Replica, which combines os many musical techniques to make something that sounds incredibly unique. It was inducted into the National Recording Registry despite being so weird. https://t.co/e1GEUxJRrM #dcc105

Computer Science is filled with questions that are constantly trying to be answered better and better. One of my favorite unsolved ones is the Traveling Salesman Problem https://t.co/VBXU2PCh1W It sounds deceptively simple, but its hard to do efficiently. #dcc105

In a lot of my projects up to this point, I've always reached a point of failure before finding a solution. Two or three times I would have to scrap all of my work and use what I learned to pursue a different approach entirely. #dcc105

#dcc105 I remember years ago Facebook actually crated solar powered planes that would deliver internet for free to the third world.(https://t.co/HthXnoSLn0) The campaign went quiet for the past few years, and i just found out it was killed: https://t.co/CvJX4omOLG

Instead of phones, we could all have:

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

@jasmaa_dcc @hannah_dcc Yeah thats true. I just hope eventually it's all standardized so everything is compatible.

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

#dcc105 Imagine if planned obsolescence didn't exist. People would be happier and have more money. The environment wouldn't be as bad. I would still have my iPhone 5s.

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

@stang10DCC That would fall under technological obsolescence I think. I'm fine with buying something new, I'm just not ok with being forced to buy the same thing with slight tweaks. #dcc105

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

@JLiangDCC Definitely fix and upgrade old technology. Laptops and desktops are pretty modular, you can just upgrade components and it'll keep running like new. It would be great if phones were like that too.

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

#dcc105 Could you imagine being a worker and like spending your life making these phones knowing that so many if them will just be destroyed immediately in drop test videos.

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

@hannah_dcc This age has the most potential for backwards compatibility ever. Any machine can run any application because they all run using the same basic operations, all CPU's have the same functionality. It just depends on the company if they want to prioritize this or not #dcc105

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

#dcc105 Worst example of planned obsolescence: Apply purposefully making past iPhones slower with new versions of iOS and eventually discontinue support for older iPhones. If you continuously update software it should be better and run faster, not slower.

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

#dcc105 We really take these complex devices for granted. I could never imagine just making one of these. Imagine if it took 100 people and the suffering of many to deliver a pizza to your house.

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

#dcc105 Theres a whole detailed wikipedia page dedicated just to the ethics of mining coltan. Looking over it, it seems like one of those things I'd read in history books about how unethical some things are, and that's pretty messed up. https://t.co/5e7GZvTIc1

[BeboDCC @BeboDcc]

@justlittleoldcc We don't know how most things get to us nowadays. Thats why theres a whole series for how its made to describe how basic things are made for us. So the internet is no exception. #dcc105
