Regarding constraints, it's actually amazing how many crazy optimizations and solutions were made on memory and processing limited machines early on. NES bank-switching comes to mind for me at least. #dcc105
I have feeling, though, that there is an aspect of art for almost everything. Even the derivation of mathematical proofs requires some creative thinking. Great proofs can be appreciated as elegant and beautiful. #dcc105
@AnikaSamee I think the two have personally overlapped a lot for me though. After a while, there is a sense of boredom and tedium for subjects you don't like even if you get good grades from them right?
It seems like the inevitability of failure is designed for at least in regards to software development. The focus is not on creating flawless products moreso on iterating on improving what is not perfect. #dcc105
Maybe it's based on the way we draw our social groups? The more we cannot relate with someone, the further away from our in-group they become. At some point, someone may be so far that they are seen as sub-human? #dcc105
For some reason One Laptop Per Child reminds me of the Primer from Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age. Both are repositories for education, but the difference, I suppose, is that one was made to be distributed and the other is a privileged resource. #dcc105
@BeboDcc@hannah_dcc I guess but isn't it more of an optimization argument? Like ARM is used with portable devices because it's better at conserving power than x86 iirc...
Probably old news by now but Italy retaliating against intentionally slowing down phones. A more direct manner of planned obsolescence via software I suppose:
