I’m just a parent trying to protect my infant from a debilitating, deadly, vaccine-preventable disease. The CDC has guidance 6mo+ in an area of active outbreak can get MMR <1y = MY KID. But county health won’t give it and the highest person I can talk to is a nursing supervisor.

@RNSuperHero I think a lot of times, parents are just trying to lull them back to sleep with every intention to put them back in their own bed and they both fall asleep. Bad things happen. It’s not always parent thought they knew best. As both an ER resident and new mom x22 days, I get it.

I know pediatricians already do SO much and are vastly underpaid. I appreciate it would be another thing on their overflowing plate. I just see an existing point of contact that could save lives with a few more screening questions.

TW: postpartum depression

Possibly unpopular opinion: pediatricians should start asking parents about postpartum depression symptoms and concerns. They commonly see birthing parents twice before the standard 6w obgyn follow-up which could be too late.
