@ClioHCorvid @OttmarSchaub @EAwaah My guess is the relation between y' and x,y found from implicit diff becomes 0=0 at (x,y)=(0,0). Which is notably still true, even if not helpful. To find y' at (0,0) one might choose points (x,y) nearby *on the function under consideration* and then take a limit (7/7)

@ClioHCorvid @OttmarSchaub @EAwaah In your example, the background assumption of restricting to a piece of the relation representing a function is being highlighted. The question "what is y' ?" must be led by "what is y ?" The answer here happens to depend on that choice (6/n)
