i used to love using twitter one of those people that would tweet like 200 times a day with song lyrics and shit and i keep thinking about using it more and then talking myself out of it
i have thoughts therefore i am going to share them 😂
please recommend your favourite disability advocates/creators (physical health and mental health)
also any cool mutuals you have who are about disability rights/representation, poetry, cats, witchy things
even just retweet this to reach people it relates to
thank you 💖
even if someone consents to a medical procedure, you do it how you promised. you do it in the safest possible way which doesn’t leave someone nearly paralysed. she could be impacted for up to two years because of their mistake or the rest of her life
i am so sad man. this past few weeks has been so stressful watching my best pal get more and more scared that the current nhs system is just going to let her die. travelling over 200 miles today so i can sit with her overnight in hospital so she feels safe
her GP told her when she was at home that they couldn’t give advice because it was too complex yet consultants are telling her she’s a hypochondriac or no longer urgent. then blaming her for their fuck up in tearing her spine with a lumbar puncture. sickening
some positives i can take from the past week that has felt like a bit of a hellscape, i am heading down to leeds tonight which means i can still see my bestie tomorrow if she’s kept in the hospital
if not, too crippled atm to get into her house which really sucks :(
Aging shouldn't stop people from living the life they want to live.. so if you still want to play videogames, buy random "childish" trinkets or dress cute, it's ok. Stopping to live as a "proper" adult is corny ure still u and u should live how u want to
it’s so shite that nursing felt like my purpose and calling but me, my friends and my family are constantly being let down and it feels like just left to die by the system. and i cant be authentic in a system that treats patients like numbers and a monetary drain
75% of people with astigmatism are autistic, 90% of autistic people can be accurately identified by a distinctive pupil response, and we’re still diagnosing autism by observing behavior and deciding how weird it looks to neurotypical people 🥲
but on that note, getting around to finally finishing editing the podcast episode I recorded weeks ago that I have had no energy to do anything with. getting back to itttt
I aint gonna go buy a Toyota because you targeted ads with people like me. It more got me excited that there was more disabled representation, but is it really if its personalised ads only shown to disabled people??
I dont watch a lot of mainstream tv (and even when I do its online) and been noticing a lot of disabled orientated ads. Was curious if this was 'on tv' ads or personalised. Found my answer when ive had two amputee ads but no record of them anywhere else online... icky
the bar wasn’t even damaged, the screws were still in the wall. seems like they used screws to small to install it. so glad i was over the toilet or it could have been so much worse
went into a disabled toilet in a restaurant today and pulled down the bar for getting on the toilet, put my weight through it, the whole thing came off the wall and i went down onto the toilet weird, hurt my stump and my arm and will be forever scared of public disabled toilets
and my life looks vastly different to anything i thought it could ever be. that’s not a bad thing, just something that takes a lot to process and continue on with
on world mental health day, i try to remember to take some time to sit with my inner child because she never thought she would make it to 16,18,21.. yet here i am nearly 10 years later. although that should be celebrated, it’s hard because i didn’t know if i would ever get here
