My main takeaway as an author is that the most important part of a book (and what makes it compelling) is the impact the characters have on the main plot. Without consequences to their actions, the characters become meaningless to the story

I’m re-reading the #HarryPotter series for the first time since getting into writing, and I tore through the first 3 in a day. But now I’m on 4 and after multiple days, I’m not even halfway. Of course, the writer in me wanted to figure out what was different abt this book…

…and actions keep getting thrown at him—unaffected by the choices he makes. Ofc there are some things he does that impact the book, but the main event, the contest, doesn’t happen by choice. This makes the book feel less personal and the reader feel disconnected from Harry…

My writing fuel usually includes Gatorade, a Celsius, and iced water (gotta have lots so I don't get bored). I also snack on Belvitas (sooo good. best snack)
Also, Pinterest boards. Nothing gets me ready to write like my Pinterest does
