I've just come across our volunteer Becky's latest blog for @womenslibrary . As usual with her blogs I've ended up fascinated by something I thought I had no interest in (in this case, cricket).

"AIDS showed us is the limits of tolerance, that it’s not enough to be tolerated, because when the shit hits the fan you find out how much tolerance is worth. Nothing. And underneath all the tolerance is intense, passionate hatred."
On of my favourite plays for a reason.
I remember my ICT teacher (whose title alone ages this) said that one day you'd be able to get a gigabyte into the size of a fingernail to put into a digital camera. Here's 1,000 of them. It's still kinda magic, really.
Lastly, thank you @nlagovau for making these images available online. You made my research both much easier and more enjoyable. This is such a fantastic collection. 7/7

One of the joys of getting to write this piece was diving into the collection of photos from the 1934-35 England tour of Australia & NZ held by @nlagovau. Mostly I included pics of the women playing cricket but there's also a lot of photos of other things they did there. 🧵1/7
It's a dreich day in Scotland so ofc I decided to write about cricket for @womenslibrary. 😅
Tbf, it's about women's cricket history, suffragettes and the current trailblazing @CricketScotland team.

There's quite a few pics from their various boat journeys but many of them show how they passed their time. This is from their journey home (I think) and Joy Liebert is winning at this sack race. 6/7

To coincide with #BlackHistoryMonth, we have named our three galleries to honour the Mothers of Gynaecology. From now on, these galleries will be known as Anarcha's Gallery, Betsey's Gallery, and Lucy's Gallery.
@FionaSkillen @Sue_John_ @womenslibrary@CricketScotland@BayfirthResCIC No but that does sound very much my thing. I'm the token cricket nerd around GWL – I rewrote most of the Wiki page on women's cricket – so I will be following with interest.
(My area is dress history and I have Very Strong Opinions on cricket whites and women's hidden labour.)

If you missed out on me talking about the @womenslibrary Spare Rib Woman's Woolly last week, @UkNatArcRes have kindly uploaded it to YouTube.
Topics include: knitting, feminism and craft, lesbian camp, and the importance of volunteers.

@LouBell@womenslibrary For me, how volunteering is structured at GWL (@GabyMacbeth) is such an important part of why I've been there as long as I have. Vols have knowledge & insights which can enhance archives & museums if used well.
Really enjoyed listening to @beccamale talking about knitting the archive through the Spare Rib’s “Woman’s Woolly” pattern, & also the process of knitting a more relevant jumper for today’s society - reflecting changes that have happened since that original pattern. @UkNatArcRes
