I laughed when my mum said this to me as a child. Yesterday, I finally understood it.

She always said:

“You don’t value what you have till you lose it.”

My laptop had been spoilt for a while, and I genuinely thought it wasn't a big deal.

I had my phone. I could still write, research, create and do most of my usual stuff.

Then I started running into those little moments:

“I need a laptop for this.”

“This project needs a bigger screen.”

“I can’t access this properly from my phone.”

And suddenly, something I thought I didn't really need became something I couldn't wait to have back.

Yesterday, I finally got it fixed.

I opened the screen and just stared at it for a second.

Funny.

I had never looked at that laptop like that before.

It wasn't new.

It hadn't suddenly become more powerful.

I had simply learned its value by losing access to it.

Mum…

I finally get it. 😭

I FINALLY WON RUMBLE.

After YEARS of getting cooked on @Actum_system Discord, I have finally escaped the trenches.

I cried.
I complained.
I wail-wail-ed.
I threatened to retire.
I came back.
I lost again. 😭

At some point, winning wasn’t even the goal anymore.

I just wanted ONE victory so I could stop embarrassing myself in that server. 😭

AND TODAY IT HAPPENED.

I almost missed the opportunity I’m celebrating today because of one sentence:

“I’ll bookmark this and come back to it later.” 😭

And honestly?

That “later” almost became never.

A while ago, I saw a post about the @SSWEB5FS on the support system space.

I read it.

I was interested.

I bookmarked it.

And went about my life. 😂

Classic procrastination.

Then @TeaonaX posted about it on X again.

This time, something clicked.

I told myself:

“Nope. I’m registering now.”

No bookmarking.

No “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

No waiting until I felt ready.

I registered.

And that one decision brought me into the Cohort 2 Remedial Class.

I thought I was just joining another class.

I didn’t know I was about to learn so much more than I expected.

The remedial class taught me consistency.

It taught me to show up.

To ask questions.

To practice.

To be accountable.

And most importantly, it taught me that you don’t always need to feel ready before you start.

Sometimes, you just need to take the step.

And now, looking back, I’m genuinely grateful I did.

Because today…

I GOT PROMOTED TO FOUNDATION SCHOOL. 🥹❤️

And guess what skill I chose?

WEB DEVELOPMENT. 👩🏽‍💻

The same girl who almost left the opportunity bookmarked for “later” is now moving into the class where I get to actually build.

That honestly feels crazy to me.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who made this journey possible.

I may still have a long way to go, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made.

When I joined Cohort 2 Remedial, I thought I was coming to learn more about Web3.

I didn’t realize I was also going to learn more about myself.

One of the first lessons that stuck with me was that one of the best skills you can have in Web3 is curiosity.

As a beginner, you’re not expected to know everything. You’re expected to keep asking questions, keep learning and be willing to explore.

I also learned that technical skills alone aren’t enough.

Communication.
Networking.
Adaptability.
Accountability.
Consistency.
Emotional intelligence.
Growth mindset.

These soft skills matter.

A skill can open the door, but your soft skills are what help you present yourself well enough to walk through it.

Before choosing a career path, we were encouraged to look inward.

What do I naturally enjoy doing?
What do people compliment me for?
What allows my creativity to come alive?

Then look outward.

What skills are companies actually paying for?

That made me understand that choosing a skill shouldn’t just be about following what is trending. It should be about finding the intersection between your strengths, your interests and market demand.

And sometimes, that means killing your comfort zone.

We explored different Web3 career paths like community management, content writing, KOL and others.

Then we went deeper into the ecosystem itself.

I got a better understanding of blockchain, centralized and decentralized systems, DAOs, validators and different types of wallets, including custodial and non-custodial wallets.

The learning wasn’t only technical either.

We talked about time management and the discipline required to actually grow.

Self-discipline.
Sacrifice.
Consistency.

I learned that having a daily structure can make a huge difference:

Learning time.
Practice time.
Networking time.
Reflection time.

And then there was something I think a lot of beginners struggle with:

balancing learning and earning.

It’s easy to lose consistency when you compare yourself to people who started before you, set unrealistic goals, become afraid of failing or keep waiting for the perfect time to start.

There is no perfect time.

There is only starting, learning and improving.

I also learned that progress needs to be tracked.

If you don’t track where you started and where you are going, it becomes easy to feel like you’re not making progress at all.

And while chasing growth, I shouldn’t forget myself.

Burnout doesn’t make you more productive.

Rest.
Sleep.
Take breaks.
Do things that make you happy.

That is also part of the journey.

Another lesson I’m taking with me is the importance of growth and networking.

Smart engagement isn’t just about being visible.

It has four pillars:

Visibility. Value. Consistency. Relationship.

And in Web3, networking can happen anywhere X, Telegram, communities and the people you meet while learning.

The goal isn’t just to know people.

It’s to build genuine relationships and become someone people remember for the value you bring.

Looking back at everything we covered, I realize that Cohort 2 Remedial gave me something more important than random information.

It gave me a foundation.

I came in trying to understand Web3 better.

I’m leaving with a clearer understanding of the ecosystem, the importance of both hard and soft skills, and a better idea of how I want to approach my career.

After remedial comes the next step: choosing a career path and actually learning the skill.

For me, that path is web development.

I’m not a web developer yet.

I’m choosing to become one.

And I’m excited to see what happens when I take everything I’ve learned here and put it into practice.

Most people think equipment management is just about checking machines and fixing them when something goes wrong.

@Actum_system is taking it further.

Think of Actum’s system as 3 layers:

1. SEE 👀
The dashboard brings O&M data from different plants, workshops and equipment into one place.

You can see completion rates, missing data, engine anomalies and overall equipment health.

2. KNOW 🚨
Actum watches the data for you.

It detects unusual trends, reminds you when maintenance is due, highlights missing data and can generate reports automatically.

3. PREDICT 🔮
This is the deeper layer.

Instead of waiting for equipment to fail, Actum is developing predictive analytics that can forecast equipment health and help optimize maintenance schedules.

It’s also building enterprise-specific O&M AI agents and knowledge bases.

So basically:

Layer 1 → What’s happening?
Layer 2 → What needs attention?
Layer 3 → What might happen next?

That’s the shift from simply managing equipment to making smarter, data-driven maintenance decisions.

I knew I was going to forgive him the moment I saw what he was holding.

And I hated that.

Because he was 27 minutes late.

Twenty-seven.

I had already rehearsed everything I was going to say to him in my head. I wasn't going to smile. I wasn't going to act excited to see him. I was definitely not going to let him get away with it that easily.

Then he walked towards me holding my favorite drink.

“Don’t even try it,” I told him.

He smiled.

“Try what?”

“That thing you do when you know you’re wrong but somehow make me laugh before I can stay angry.”

He laughed, opened the car door for me and told me to get in.

Unfortunately, I did.

We ended up at Starbucks, sitting by the window for hours like we had nowhere else to be.

We talked about money, our plans, places we wanted to visit and all the ridiculous things we'd do if we ever got the chance to travel together.

At some point, I caught him staring at me.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“Then why are you looking at me?”

He smiled and took another sip of his coffee.

I rolled my eyes.

But I was smiling too. 😭

By the time we were ready to leave, it had started raining.

And somehow, standing there with him under that little shelter, I forgot all about the 27 minutes.

Maybe that's what I liked most about days like this.

Nothing extraordinary happened.

We just talked, laughed, got caught in the rain and somehow turned an ordinary afternoon into a memory I still think about.

Some moments really don't need much.

Just the right person, a little time and somewhere warm to sit. 🤎

Then I woke up.

Yep.

It was all a dream. 😭
