Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and we want to give a shout-out to the fine men and women who serve and protect our community, on nice days and snowy ones. We are also grateful for those officers in surrounding police departments whom we work with on a daily basis.
Congratulations to Eric Schmitz who was recently promoted from Police Major to Deputy Chief. Deputy Chief Schmitz is a 25-year veteran of the Lenexa Police Department and has been serving as Patrol Commander since 2020. During his career, he has served as a Patrol Officer, K9 Handler, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, and Watch Commander. Major Schmitz will oversee the Patrol Division and Police Information Technology. Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief Schmitz!
