The Childcare Cliff: A Cautionary Tale. A graphic story that even children can understand about what's at stake when federal funds to keep our already fragile childcare system afloat run out. By @BetterLifeLab's @Beckgale & illustrator Dianne Kirsch https://t.co/upqACE3R7Y
SOURCE REQUEST: Looking to talk to someone who identifies as Gen Z who and feels they would switch jobs or take a paycut just to find affordable child care. DM me if this is you + you want to chat!
Check out our reporting fellow @Beckgale 's article in @marieclaire on the scramble for care for neurodivergent kids and the toll it takes on mothers' lives.
In researching this piece in @marieclaire I came across the excellent book Screaming on the Inside by @JessGrose which details how the readily society blames mothers for challenging kids. (and why perhaps so little is done to help them).

My story on the invisible #childcare crisis faced by parents with challenging children is the the lead story on @marieclaire home page right now - yet another sign of how many parents struggle with this and how little support there is.

From the brilliant @Beckgale@BetterLifeLab at @NewAmerica. We live in a world that SAYS "We care about families," and "We care about children," but policies do not reflect this. Look at what people [policymakers] do, not what they say. There is a better way.
There is a particular kind of hellish #childcare crisis for families of kids with challenging behaviors, and I wrote about it for @marieclaire:

A thread.
By creating a model that is inclusive of everyone, it would also lead to better trained staff and support services, including having therapy and mental health services in the school, which would help keep kids there all day, rather than being pulled out for a disruption.
Did Covid break child care or was it already broken? Cool graphic story from @Beckgale + illustrator Dianne Kirsch. https://t.co/rDWMIPZCFh @BetterLifeLab@NewAmerica
Vermont advocates have been hammering out #childcare coalitions and policy details for over a decade, and now stand on the precipice of winning-- @BeckGale reports:
