Thanks for deleting your tweet @jaxd38. The article you quoted reported only a selection of the truth, rendering it seriously flawed. As I’ve been saying since 2015, stores which operate as duty free (which isn’t all airport stores) must prove customers’ destinations
@thelilybells You did exactly that, by saying this: “You sure it’s not just what they told you? Like they told you it was the law so you feel like you HAVE to ask people”. If you don’t care, stay out of it.
@DaveMurrie I was being sarcastic. You’re also wrong, because that isn’t the only reason many use this policy. As with anything else, it’s stats. Which actually helps them to do their jobs. I hope there are no loyalty cards in your wallet, as that would make you inconsistent.
@thelilybells @DerrenLitten@DoctorChristian@JoMaloneLondon ...in order to prove the correct duty/tax has been paid. How do we do this? By scanning their boarding pass. Simple. There are stores where it’s not necessary. There are stores where it is. Educate yourself as to the difference.
@thelilybells @DerrenLitten@DoctorChristian@JoMaloneLondon ...the press coverage of this was woeful, and so many people misunderstood. My colleagues and I were victimised enormously, when media and customers were at fault. In duty free stores, retailers MUST have proof of a customer’s destination...
