A Christian street preacher has been acquitted by a jury at Swindon Crown Court after facing an ‘Islamophobic’ hate-crime allegation for saying “we love the Jews.”

A family reported feeling targeted because they were wearing hijabs. Yet the police call handler immediately categorised the incident as a hate crime — without any supporting evidence.

Shaun was subsequently charged with religiously aggravated intentional harassment.

Under cross-examination by Mr O’Sullivan’s solicitor advocate, the complainant conceded that she had not heard the entire message and that her recollection was shaped by her strongly held personal views on Gaza.

The trial is estimated to have cost £20,000.

The Police must step back from policing hate incidents in such a vexatious and disproportionate manner.
