My therapist told me, "When a woman grows up feeling unseen, she learns to love by overgiving. She pours into everyone else, hoping that one day someone will finally pour back into her. She becomes the caretaker, the fixer, the one who shows up even when no one shows up for her. And the hardest part? Deep down, she's not trying to be strong. She's just waiting for someone to do for her what she's spent her whole life doing for everyone else."
One of the downsides of being an emotionally intelligent person is that you’ll be able and willing to see and understand things from everyone else’s POV… but people are rarely capable or willing to give that same grace of understanding towards u.
An eternal frustration.
I used to think that holding your tongue was a sign of maturity, but l realized that a true sign of growth and maturity is being able to vocalize your feelings in an appropriate manner even if you are angry. Holding your tongue just fosters unexpressed feelings that lead to trauma being stored in the body.
no one talks about how draining it is when your mood constantly switches between "keep going, it will get better" and "i can't do this anymore, im about to give up." it's like living in emotional whiplash. one hour you're hopeful, the next you're spiraling
a friend made the suggestion to start a note in our phone called “good things are always happening to me” and to purposefully find something to add to it every day.
absolute game changer.
imagine a person geeked over you. i mean like bragging to their friends, parents, showing you off, waking up to sweet paragraphs expressing their love for you everyday. just love you for you & treat you better than any person that ever treated you wrong. thats all i want tbh
Please fall in love with someone who genuinely wants you, patiently waits for your messages, understands you even in your madness, talks to you after a fight. The right person sees the mess and moods but still chooses you.
