@BillSimmons Hey Bill, can you fill me in on the game? I haven't been able to watch it yet. Dying to know the end result but you haven't tweeted since this!
@Lawyeredup1@PabloTorre Yep, and that's exactly what happened. Ballmer invested at double the share price of the original investment, despite the company being in a far worse financial state.
I can't believe Cuban and others are still defending this so strongly, it blows my mind.
@Lawyeredup1@PabloTorre $11/share at 50M is about 4,545,000 shares
$23/share at 10M is about 435,000 shares
If there was 100M shares outstanding, that puts him at about 4,900,000 shares. 4.9%
@Lawyeredup1@PabloTorre This is a good train of thought but we're talking about stock in a company. It should actually be incredibly easy to figure out if Ballmer owned 5% or more - just gotta take total shares held / total stock outstanding.
@Otheryanmurphy@Kim43577950@owaddled@bruce_arthur@PabloTorre But Aspiration itself knew they were struggling. And they committed to giving Kawhi $28M cash (plus another 20M in stock). For literally nothing in return. You realize how insane that is right? Companies like Aspiration don't just have billions lying around like that
@Otheryanmurphy@Kim43577950@owaddled@bruce_arthur@PabloTorre How exactly do you explain away the timing of the additional investments, particularly as the company was deteriorating? You think they were just continuously defrauded and it's circumstance that Kawhi also had money due to him ?
Leo was paid $2M for an endorsement btw.
@Otheryanmurphy@Kim43577950@owaddled@bruce_arthur@PabloTorre Because they went bankrupt. That's what bankrupt companies do, they default.
Which makes it 100x more insane that a company struggling with cash flow would just sign a contract to give Kawhi Leonard $48M for literally nothing.
@Otheryanmurphy@Kim43577950@owaddled@bruce_arthur@PabloTorre Well of course Ballmer was cleared by the DOJ, he's just an investor from their POV. They don't care about salary cap circumvention with the NBA because that's not what they do.
Serious question - what do you actually personally think happened regarding Aspiration/Clippers?
@Ryan_Star7@amicsta Idk man, I'm not saying he couldn't take better care of his body, but when you're 7 feet tall doing the things he does, better conditioning can only go so far.
I just think the discourse around Embiid recently is kinda bizarre. Like you think he wants to miss games?
@Ryan_Star7 Yeah I'm really not someone who likes to complain about refs like ever. When all these games come down to the final possession, and one team seems to get like 80% of the 50-50 calls, it's hard to ignore.
