Please, please, please don’t self-immolate or set yourself or anything on fire for Gaza. The gift of life is precious, and there are multiple ways of drawing attention to the plight of Gazans in a helpful manner that doesn't cause you or your loved ones unnecessary suffering. There are plenty of people in this world being needlessly burned by bombs and war; please don't join them, they don't have a choice, but you do.

To help Gaza, hold a fundraiser to send food or medical supplies to civilians; do targeted advocacy to get specific actions done such as food airdrops, sending water supplies, and calling for political resolutions & action; work to build bridges between the Palestinians and Israelis & give peace a chance; explore & understand various components of the Israel & Palestine history to learn from mistakes and ensure that new visions and pragmatic solutions preserve Palestinian lives in Gaza & elsewhere; write articles, letters to the editors, or engage informed audiences to influence and inspire them; and if necessary, take structured breaks from social media and from viewing the constant images of death & carnage - even as someone from Gaza, with family and skin in the game, I get so overwhelmed & discouraged daily and have to walk away from my screens lest I be entirely overcome with despair, grief, and desperation.
