A man with a history of domestic violence (including animal cruelty) has just been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 25-year-old woman in Smithfield, Qld, yesterday.
She is the 44th Australian woman killed this year. It is understood he is NOT known to her.
Last year we lost 79 women to violence - the year before 106 women were killed.
It is alleged he drove a stolen car into the car she was driving.
As well as manslaughter, the offender is facing a raft of other charges.

❤️ABOUT THE COUNT❤️
I document all Australian women & children lost to murder, manslaughter, neglect and other unlawful acts regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship to the victim. This means not all women and children killed are lost to domestic violence. They are also killed by people known to them (ie friends) or by strangers. My work includes Australians killed overseas. Every death is documented at https://t.co/DW9BTHwqhk (link in bio).
EMMA SPEAKS OUT ON VIOLENT THREATS 📻📢
No one should face threats or intimidation for going to work.
Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst joined Hamish Macdonald on ABC Radio Sydney to speak about the unacceptable abuse directed at women in politics and the failure to properly address it.
Emma shared her own experience of receiving hundreds of violent threats and the urgent need for stronger action to stop this behaviour.
Political disagreement is part of democracy. Threats of violence are not.
Abuse has no place in our Parliament.
Thank you, Emma, for continuing to speak out for women, children and animals despite the abuse. ❤️

DEATH THREATS WON'T SILENCE EMMA HURST
Emma Hurst MP: "I may be alone in standing up against this abuse towards me in Parliament, I may have to live in fear of it. But it will not stop me.
"I will continue to stand up and speak on behalf of animals who need protection. I will continue to stand up and fight against domestic violence.
"I will continue to stand up for a safe society with strong gun laws. I will continue to stand up against all forms of child abuse no matter what is thrown my way - and no matter what little support I have in Parliament to do so without having my own safety threatened.
"Because when we stand against all forms of violence, we change a society. We change a political system so that women are safe to fight for a better world, and that's exactly why I am here."

BRUMBIES SLAUGHTERED DESPITE MORE EFFECTIVE HUMANE OPTIONS
A stallion stood over the body of a dead mare in Kosciuszko for two hours. Her body was found after an aerial cull in the park.
Our MP Emma Hurst has called the images absolutely grotesque.
"We are calling for all lethal measures to stop immediately."

A fetus in the rubble. Their bombs incinerate mothers with babies in their wombs. Remember the “40 beheaded babies” and “babies in ovens” lie? This is what they do every single day, even after the “ceasefire”.
Residents searching through the rubble of an Israeli strike in western Gaza City recovered the body of an unborn baby after the attack killed a pregnant woman, her husband and their five-year-old son.
GOVT IS FAILING CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
Emma Hurst MP explains:
"We are missing cases of extreme child abuse because of the push to keep animal protection laws weak. Hear me out.
Abusers are often the same people. People who harm animals often also harm people. We know the link exists. So if we keep enforcement and protection of animals weak, we make it harder to identify and ensure early intervention when child abuse is also occurring.
To give an example, recently in Parliament we had a heated debate. The Coalition and others argued that evidence of animal abuse - no matter how extreme - should not be able to go to the police for investigation if it was filmed undercover. This would apply to crimes such as animal s*xual abuse.
By preventing police from acting on evidence of animal abuse, these laws could also allow serious child abuse to remain hidden. Where the same perpetrator is harming both animals and children, covering up one form of abuse may prevent the investigation that would uncover the other, leaving both victims at risk of further abuse.
I was very unpopular for pointing this out - but it is true.
Of course, animals should be protected as victims in their own right, but political parties that do the bidding of industries that want to cover up animal abuse need to understand that by doing so they are unintentionally helping cover up child abuse.
This is just another reason animal abuse is a high-level crime."

ABOUT 'SENTIENT':
Directed by Tony Jones, former host of ABC's Q&A, Sentient is a moving journey into laboratory research on animals, exposing a hidden world in which it's not just the animals getting hurt.
Following the story of Dr Lisa Jones Engel, a primatologist turned animal-welfare advocate, it asks "can we still justify harming animals and ourselves in the name of science?"
"I come at this, not as an activist, but as a lifelong journalist,” says Sentient director Tony Jones, “so we have an ethic of trying to understand both sides of any story, and to not just take a side. I think that it’s up to people to make up their own minds.”

URGENT ACTION NEEDED IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS 🚨
Victoria has a new Premier. In the next few hours, his first major test could shape the future of wildlife protection in our state.
The Outdoor Recreation Victoria Bill is expected back on the agenda today – handing even greater power to the same officers just exposed for targeting duck rescuers and ignoring illegal shooter behaviour. Increased penalties for rescuers, including the threat of imprisonment for volunteers who film cruelty.
Jacinta Allan tried to ram this through before losing her own party room's confidence. Ben Carroll doesn't have to inherit it.
If it's not withdrawn today, it gets locked in for years – no matter who Victorians vote for.
We only have hours. Send Ben Carroll a message now 👇
