The participation of women in leadership is a matter of right as enshrined in the National Gender Policy (NGP) which provides for 35% Affirmative Action in favour of women. What our world needs is a synergy of the genders in order to surmount the myriad of challenges facing it.

However, our women must overcome fear, apathy and cultural biases if they must maximize their leadership potential, conscious of the fact that they aren't mentally inferior to men and definitely not less endowed with leadership capabilities than them.

Thankfully, Akwa Ibom State is on course in the drive to fully implement the 35% Affirmative Action.

I also received an award from the organization on behalf of the First Lady while I was decorated as an Ambassador of MWAN.

Natural disasters usually leave great loss of life and property in its wake such that its victims would struggle to recover from its impact. I deeply sympathize with victims of the 2022 flood in Akwa Ibom state.

Our discussions focused on the efforts the present administration would make to work in partnership with UNHCR in rendering assistance to refugees residing in camps in the various host communities in Akwa Ibom.

Today, I resumed duty as Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and was received by the energetic staff of the Office, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Margaret Edem.

Excited at the briefing I got and the commitment made by staff to stay alive to their responsibilities.
