2️⃣ TERM FINANCE PERMANENTLY SHUTS META VAULTS AFTER $8.5M GOVERNANCE EXPLOIT
@term_labs has issued another update following yesterday’s major governance exploit.

Security researchers estimate approximately $8.5 MILLION was drained, including:

Ξ ~2,843 ETH
💵 ~1.68M USDC, later swapped into DAI

Term Labs has now confirmed that:
❌ All Term Meta Vaults have been shut down
❌ DAO governance roles have been revoked
❌ New deposits are permanently disabled
✅ Withdrawals remain open

The team says the underlying Term protocol and its direct borrowing and lending markets have not been affected based on its investigation so far.

This incident is another reminder that governance design itself can become an attack surface, even when the underlying smart contracts are not exploited in the traditional way.

3️⃣ NIGERIA SEC PROPOSES SWEEPING NEW RULES FOR CRYPTO, CUSTODY & TOKENIZATION 🇳🇬
Nigeria’s @SECNigeria has published proposed rules covering Digital and Virtual Asset Operations, Custody and Markets.
The framework would apply broadly to activities involving:
🪙 Digital-asset issuance
🔗 Tokenization
📈 Trading
🔐 Custody
💸 Transfers and settlement
💼 Digital-asset investment and advisory services

Importantly, the proposed rules are designed to cover businesses that:
🇳🇬 Operate in Nigeria
👥 Provide services to Nigerian residents
🌐 Or target Nigerian investors digitally even where the company itself may be outside Nigeria.

The rules are currently PROPOSALS UNDER PUBLIC CONSULTATION, not final regulations.

SEC Nigeria is giving stakeholders two weeks from publication to submit comments.

4️⃣ SOLANA CUTS MAINNET SLOT TIME TO 350 MILLISECONDS
Solana has taken another step toward reducing blockchain latency.

The network has cut its mainnet slot time from approximately 400ms to 350ms.
This represents the first step toward Solana’s longer-term target of eventually reaching approximately:

South Korea’s Shinhan Asset Management has signed an agreement with:
🟣 Solana Foundation
🔗 Etherfuse
🐋 Orca

to explore the issuance and distribution of a Korean won-denominated tokenized fund.
Shinhan manages approximately $96.6 BILLION in assets.

The proof-of-concept is modeled partly on structures such as BlackRock’s BUIDL and could involve institutional investors purchasing a KRW ultra-short-term bond fund whose holdings are then represented onchain.

@Grayscale is moving closer to converting its existing Zcash Trust into an exchange-traded product.

According to regulatory filings, Grayscale anticipates the trust could begin trading on NYSE Arca around AUGUST 25, subject to receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.

The product would be renamed:
THE ZCASH ETF

and is expected to trade under ticker:
