@Simontimofish@ScotlandNT@FIFAWorldCup The bank holiday was declared ahead of the game, it was for respect, not just for the win but winning will make it feel better. May the sun shine on come Monday.
Hello Samuel,
Thank you so much for everything 🙏.
I don’t know if this is the right platform to raise this, but I felt led to share it with you.
Yesterday, Sunday, I had a long conversation with my sister who lives in Aberdeen, Scotland. She told me that the Bishop called an emergency committee meeting after Mass to seek opinions on what can be done to rebuild and strengthen the Church, especially as many churches are becoming empty and fewer people are coming to Mass.
She explained that in Aberdeen, there are about 48 parishes but only around 32 priests. Because of this, the few priests available are overworked, often moving between different churches to celebrate Mass and attend to the needs of the people. This makes it difficult for them to fully carry out all the other responsibilities needed to grow and support the Church community.
What concerned me most was hearing that in some churches, it is mostly elderly and frail members who are still attending and serving faithfully, while many younger people are no longer actively involved in the Church.
During our conversation, I suggested that one possible way forward could be to seek support from priests outside the UK, from places such as Africa, Asia, and other parts of the world, who may be willing to come and assist in serving the Church in Aberdeen. I understand that funding may be a challenge, but I believe this is something that could be addressed through a dedicated fundraising effort.
I suggested that they begin raising funds specifically for this purpose, even if it takes six months or a year. The goal would be to support bringing additional priests to Aberdeen to help tend to the flock, ease the burden on the current priests, and contribute to rebuilding the Church community.
I told my sister that if the discussion continues into the first Sunday in June, I would personally start the donation with £200. It may not be much, but I believe someone has to take the first step, and hopefully it will encourage others to support in whatever way they can.
I don’t know if this means anything or if it can help in any way, but I thought to bring it to your attention. I can also link you up with my sister in Aberdeen so you both can discuss further and see what can be done.
Please keep the Church in Aberdeen, Scotland, in your prayers.
God bless you Samuel.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, Our Mother to thee we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer us.
Amen.
