BUSTED. Carney was caught lying to Canadians. Again. Parti Quebecois learned about it, through the New York Times. The US Trade Representative, who speaks fluent French and has a son born in Paris, confirmed that the French language and sovereignty were never a topic of discussion.  Today, the government decided to cover up their lie, with another lie. A revisionist approach to what actually happened instead of them taking ownership for lying to Canadians. This is how the Liberal government manipulates public perception & lies to avoid accountability.

TransCanada’s Energy East was proposed in 2013: a 4,600-km line converting existing pipe and adding new steel to move 1.1 million barrels a day of Western crude to Quebec and New Brunswick refineries and an Atlantic export terminal. It was nation-building infrastructure—energy security, jobs, and markets beyond the U.S.—a decade before today’s talk of corridors and Team Canada.

I was with TC at the time. My team did the hydraulics, chose the path, and selected the pump locations.

It was visionary and ahead of its time. Then Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre led the opposition, asking what was in it for Montreal and citing spill risk over national benefit. Quebec municipal resistance, tougher reviews, and low oil prices followed. TransCanada cancelled the project in October 2017. I'll never forget the cheers from Quebec. They were certain is was the beginning of the end of Alberta.

No unified national push existed then. A project that would have strengthened Canada’s energy position died on regional veto and short-term politics. The missed opportunity still haunts me.

I used to believe that @PierrePoilievre was simply an exceptional politician.
But then I watched in real time as the mainstream media, Liberal @MarkJCarney, Liberal MPs, Liberal supporters, and the political establishment seemed to join forces in an unprecedented campaign to destroy a single man.
The endless attacks, accusations, negative headlines, political maneuvering, attempts to discredit him, and constant efforts to portray him as unfit to lead Canada — all of it seemed aimed at preventing him from gaining power.
And yet, despite all of it, millions of Canadians continued to support him.
How do you explain that?
That's when it became undeniable for me: no politician faces this level of coordinated and hysterical opposition unless they represent a serious threat to the political establishment and the system that has been in place for years.
Ordinary politicians don't trigger this kind of coordinated panic.
At that moment, I stopped thinking of Pierre Poilievre as simply a great politician.
He became something much bigger: a threat to the status quo.

Smith and Moe didn’t hold those press conferences for optics.
Hours apart, two western premiers had to get in front of cameras and say it out loud: you will not tax our oil, you will not cut off our potash, you will not use our workers as a bargaining chip. That is not teamwork. That is a distress flare.
Ask yourself why they had to do it.
Because they were never in the room when it counted. The last year of this fight was built around Ontario autos, Quebec industry, B.C. lumber and electricity. Those are the provinces that feed the current government its votes. Alberta and Saskatchewan only became “Canada’s leverage” after the talks collapsed and somebody in the East needed a line that sounded tough.
Then Ford starts talking about killing the U.S. farm sector overnight. Then LeBlanc waves oil and potash around on American TV like they are props. Then the same political class that spent years making western energy harder to build suddenly discovers it is national treasure — right when they want to spend it.
That is the scam. When it is time to negotiate, our industries are an afterthought. When it is time to look strong, our livelihoods are a weapon. When the damage lands, it will not land in Vaughan. It will land in the mines, the patches, and the towns that actually produce the only hard leverage this country has left.
Smith and Moe are not being dramatic. They are telling you what they are afraid of. Premiers do not call emergency warnings about a policy they think is a joke. They called them because they can see the East doing the math: if throwing the West under the bus saves their voting bloc, they will do it and call it Team Canada.
We have seen this movie. We know how it ends. The resources are national when they need them. The costs are regional when they don’t.
Do not miss the warning. If the people who produce the wealth have to hold press conferences to beg Ottawa not to loot it, the looting is already being discussed.

Peter MacKay is correct.
The very reason they haven’t released the details of the deal Carney walked away from is because it will expose the truth. Carney made up the reasons to walk away. He never wanted a deal.
The entire event of him cancelling it including his press conference seemed over the top and ridiculous, that’s what you do when you are trying to play people for fools.
