And this is why I believe they are spending so much on younger talent with long contracts whilst trying to exit older players with shorter contracts for profit now, even if it creates an imbalance of age profiles within the squad.

Signing or renewing top talents after the sanctions hit will be much harder. Doing what they’re doing now would help facilitate a sale (which might be forced by the sanctions).
