@InternetAsylum @shagbark_hick Oh, I think see what you mean. Yes, there was an Apollonian pseudomorphosis before there was a magian one. That would have been a more exact comparison. Less provocative though.

[BeehiveHush @BeehiveHush]

@InternetAsylum @shagbark_hick Spenglers whole thing was treating civilizations as though they were organisms with their own life spans. Classical Greek culture he named Apollonian. Modern western civ he labeled Faustian. Idk what Spengler you’ve read but I’m talking about his seminal work decline of the west

[BeehiveHush @BeehiveHush]

@shagbark_hick Compare to the pseudomorphosis that western (Faustian is his term) received from the Middle East civilization during its becoming- Christianity.

[BeehiveHush @BeehiveHush]

@shagbark_hick According to Oswald Spengler (whose works I recommend) America is not a part of western civilization, it is a colonial outpost experiencing a “pseudomorphosis”, or wave of influence of the decadent western Civ. (On its way out ) which gives impulse to our civilization yet to come

@boriquagato If you aren’t responsible for consenting to sex under the influence, how can you be responsible for deciding to drive under the influence?

@DaniGGerman It’s the O&A curse. Only Patrice made it through unscathed.

For the past 4 months, @BenningtonShow has been recording the Portcast, the podcast where Ron Bennington talks with friends and comedians as he's RECEIVING chemotherapy for stage 4 colon cancer.

It's been one the most surreal, beautiful, and hysterical experiences of my life. In a sea of podcasts, this is truly one of one. It's nothing anyone has seen before. It's a walk down the path of the human condition. How do we deal with the bad news? How do we cope? How do we navigate it and try and learn something?

Folks have seen the clips, and now the full episodes are being released. Search for Portcast on Youtube and everywhere you listen to podcasts for the full episodes.

The first guest is @Shanemgillis, an amazing comic and an even better man for coming in to spend time with Ron and record this episode.

Give this a retweet, why don't ya? And watch the show!

@the_Hotstar Why would the British want them to reject British colonialism?

[BeehiveHush @BeehiveHush]

@shagbark_hick The lifestyles people are accustomed to are going away slowly, not all at once. It’s not a fun story like infinite progress or sudden apocalypse so it’s not an appealing narrative even though it’s the observable reality.

@shagbark_hick Just the one thing? Big fan of the liturgical music personally.

@shagbark_hick I don’t understand adults who throw around the word just. “If we all just” when have we ever all just anythinged? It betrays a complete refusal to confront the cussedness of human behavior.

[BeehiveHush @BeehiveHush]

@shagbark_hick No, they probably aren’t. But given that most activities out there involve passive consumption-or the operation of machines without agency- having a hobby that involves the active management of living systems promotes a less degenerate worldview

@shagbark_hick Growing your own vegetables is cheap, easy and a better way to spend your time than watching tv or using social media. I agree about obsessing over prestige packaged goods though

@reddit_lies This is a plot point in like a dozen of the thousand and one Arabian nights. She needs a vizier to hide in the rafters and spill cows blood onto the bed at the moment of insertion to simulate the breakage of the hymen. Easy peasey.

@shagbark_hick It’s insane how many there are. Whenever I’m in a new area and search for coffee the map is crowded with them. I’ll never understand it.
