New Paper in topiCS
1/ 🤖🧠 Pop culture often depicts competition between a superhuman central AI (Skynet) vs a decentralized human opposition. In our study, we investigated the implications of this topology on human-machine co-evolution.

TL;DR
Societies and organisations face urgent challenges that require making good collective decisions rapidly and at scale. Here, we introduce PSi, a method to scale conversational decision-making to billions of simultaneous speakers.

If you could ASK THE WORLD ONE QUESTION, what would it be?
1. Share the question you'd ask below
2. The response with the most likes will be discussed on @thepsiapp on 09.01.2023
3. Participants on PSi will be rewarded a share of 🤑$1,000 🤑 for finding the best answer
So, why are we doing this?
Inspired by the BIG ideas discussed at #SFICollective23, I am proud to share a new preprint with my co-author Georgie Denis.

#ChatGPT is a leap forward in machines’ ability to pass Turing’s “imitation game”. Yet, not all machines need to use language to be deceitful. We designed a minimal Turing test showing how algorithms can imitate human-like communication to act like humans. Read below our paper!
I was recently part of 3 large collaborative projects, all published in the last couple of weeks. Their use of collective intelligence as a general framework to solve problems made me think. I share below some of my reflections...

An important discussion among Londoners on police accountability that will be facilitated by the collective intelligence platform PSi. Please register to take part. #collectiveintelligence@thepsiapp
I'm looking forward to speaking at this online event tomorrow. The police need to be held accountable for their use of powers and public resources. Have your voice heard, register to be part of the conversation

I was recently featured in this piece, where I comment about our use of cloud in providing massive scale deliberation capabilities to private and public sector organizations. Let me know what you think! #Cloud#Voice
What can the public sector learn from private businesses when it comes to investing in cloud technology? @thetimes@raconteur ask the experts, including @thepsiapp who utilise cloud services to turn voice discussions & public debate into measurable data https://t.co/IRjx301ehL

💡 there are two basic options in recruiting for large scale online group experiments:
(1) continually recruit, ppl join 1 at a time, and games start as there are enough for a new group to form
(2) recruit as much as you can up front, and start them all at once
