@_nakshatrala@Malay4Product Maybe. But what’s wrong in using diesel locomotives in hills. Better use case would be to use them metro trains, since electrification requirement will be negated & project delivery will be faster. Anyhow, hydrogen run locomotives have low speed limits.
@ashokdanoda It’s a demo project. We don’t have green hydrogen, our’s is mostly grey & not even blue. Great engineering marvel, but it’s unnecessary project as now since most of the tracks are already electrified. As of today, grey hydrogen run trains are less efficient than electric trains.

@RicchaDwivedi Wasn’t Japan funding the project? Funding obviously comes with riders. Massive delays and ballooned project cost have left bad taste for Japanese side. Corruption is one of the reasons, but there could be other vested interests.

@pvsreekanth@MattooShashank Wasn’t this known to us earlier? Why did we agree to the terms? Also, Japanese were funding the major cost of the project. Funding, obviously comes with riders.

@Satvik_Pen This is pure mismanagement. The HSR project is already delayed by 7-8 years. Project cost has ballooned to almost double. The project terms were clear that India will use Shinkansen across board as Japanese were funding it. I don’t know what really happened there.
@LutyensLaunda@ashokdanoda Moreover, there is no savings of 20% on crude bill as Puri said in one of his interviews. Forex savings would at best 4% annually, if we consider there is no change in vehicle mileages. More realistic savings would be in range of 2-3% of forex on crude bill.
@LutyensLaunda@ashokdanoda Let me try and give you basic breakdown on numbers. Fractional distillation of crude oil produces 20% petrol, and rest are diesel, kerosene & many other petro chemicals. Basic price of petrol at most is around ₹45-55/liter at when crude hovers between $60-90/barrel.
@LutyensLaunda@ashokdanoda Amazing part comes now. Ethanol price which OMCs paid last year averaged little over ₹71/liter. So, ethanol is expensive than petrol. The govt should subsidise fuel as they are pushing E20 only dispensing at the pumps.
@marinebharat If you are getting paid for this and then forget it, coz it’s your bread and buttter. Else, get on the right side for a change. For us, the fuel efficiency has gone down by atleast 15%. And I drive a e20 complaint car. We are just asking them to provide blend options.
