@Beautiranye@sendboots If you ask me where I’m from, I am going to tell you what is most meaningful and accurate to me. It’s not about feeling distinguished, and if someone not answering questions in the way you want is ruining your vacation maybe it’s you who need not be there.
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 That’s okay. I dont want friends who keep score of who called first instead of who picked up when they needed it. My friends value effort over perfection and communicate when they don’t like something. We love in ways that are meaningful to us and I wouldn’t have it any other way
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 Which is why I said you need to communicate your needs. Compromise goes both ways. The onus shouldn’t be on 1 person to accommodate others. If so tells me they need me to reach out more,I work to be consistent in a way that meets their needs but they have to be proactive as well
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 And what I’m saying is that that isn’t true for everyone and a lot of ppl miss out on amazing friendships because they expect a level of performance that not everyone is capable of. When you care about so you meet them where they are, you ask for what you need and you compromise
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 Sometimes I do and sometimes they do. If I see st that reminds me of them or I am randomly thinking of them, I reach out. Not thinking about them consistently doesn’t mean never. It’s harder for me to do so and ppl keep that in mind bc they know it’s not a lack of love.
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 Not based on some arbitrary standard of how others do it. Everyone needs different things from the ppl in their life to feel loved and as long as you are making an effort to give the ppl in your life what they need, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 Babies have small worlds.ND adults are surrounded by various groups of ppl. They have jobs, hobbies, errands to run. In the same way that a baby’s toy doesn’t stop being their favorite bc they have been focused on others.I don’t stop loving my ppl bc I’m not thinking about them rn
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 There are ppl in my life that I don’t speak to or think about for months and my joy when I see them is overwhelming. They could call me right now and I’d drive through the night for them and they’d do the same for me, bc they don’t judge my love based on how others show theirs.
@supernova2695@seven_mkak7 I don’t think that’s fair. If you lack object permanence, love isn’t going override the symptoms of your disability. Not consistently missing someone doesn’t change the amount of love or care you have for them when they are on your mind or in your presence.
@CourtneeHendrix There is actually evidence that a significant amount of elderly people who are not dying are referred to hospice, so they can charge their insurance for what turn into years worth of unnecessary “care” and confinement. John Oliver had an interesting piece on it a couple years ago
@ygponde Sorry for not pretending I didn’t know the word for what I meant. You are entitled to your opinion of his behavior (as I said), you are not entitled to an explanation or apology for it. Nor does he have to keep inviting you into his private life to prove he cares what you think
@ygponde@yoonminatist If he hadn’t posted it and someone else took pictures of them out in public on their personal time, would you feel less entitled to whatever kind of accountability you have in mind? Because if not then that would insinuate that you feel entitled to police their personal choices.
@yoonminatist@ygponde In his live he said that he is going to be separating his work life from his private life. Having an issue with that assumes you are entitled to an opinion on what he does during his personal time as long as he doesn’t hide it and you don’t.
@ygponde I think it is perfectly reasonable to feel a way about him going to the concert. I wouldn’t have gone and I sideeye ppl who do. That doesn’t make them accountable to me. I can decide to hold a boundary about engaging w/ them, but it not my place to police their choices
@ygponde You are being intellectually dishonest ( I hope). His instagram is public. He posts things he does during his personal time on it. You are not the arbiter of how he spends his personal time just bc he posted a picture of it on social media.
@ygponde Making you think about how you are entitled to access to an artist’s private life or else they are avoiding “accountability?” He owes you nothing. A job is a job. It ends when he clocks out. He is not the product, the music is. Why do you think you are entitled to anything else?
@kristinaEBP@xterlingxisca@TheChigerian@lafemmefola Children are held accountable by adults. Adults are accountable to themselves as long as they don’t break laws. Adults are responsible for both their actions and their children’s actions. That is a different level of responsibility and it should be acknowledged
