@tsnmike@peterp2000@USMNT@FIFAWorldCup Trusty’s heavily left footed and McKenzie is 2-footed so I get why Trusty was LB & MM was LCB. I don’t get why Arfeston wasn’t LB and Trusty LCB.
@tsnmike@USMNT@FIFAWorldCup I really like McKenzie, I really enjoyed “Orange Slices”; but that was a disaster class. Badly ball watching on the second goal, ran to Turners hip (worst place to be) instead of checking his shoulder to find cross targets, left the 6 unguarded
It’s important to remember: nothing bad has ever happened to a South American player who gave up an own goal to USA in a World Cup match on is soil. #Usmnt#USAvPAR#FifaWorldCup
@jgault13 Hoppel must have been off to run a 1:47. Either a joint or muscle was bothering him, or he felt sick, but there’s no way that’s a reflection of how fit he is.
@DHC1_1991 But the logic of the rule isn’t anti-development. It makes sense to try to make investment seem safer, the reality and implementation of the rule has just been extremely flawed and needs to be dramatically amended
@DHC1_1991 I definitely think there should be rules on how much involvement a kid has had with a club’s development system before a club can lay claim to them and a cap on how much a club can demand for someone who has stated they aren’t interested in signing
@DHC1_1991 Hiring international coaches costs money. Building high a culture of high level performance across age levels takes time. If the players that clubs would be building that culture around keep moving to Philly or Texas, it makes board members question the investment.
@scuffedpod@blharreld@MattSHartman Has @MattSHartman seen any evidence that these geographic insurance policies have actually led to more investment in non-traditional talent hot beds? (Investment in places other than CA, Tx, Fl, NY)
@DHC1_1991 NY and LA (and England and Spain) have a ready supply of people that know soccer. It’s not hard to recruit & train quality coaches. Places like Ok and Wi are seeing their first generation of adults who grew up w/ soccer but they are a long way from academy level coaches
@DHC1_1991 I think the owners know what will make them more likely to spend money.
Youth investment is a gamble. Being reassured that if they do find a gem, that player isn’t going to sign with a rival and earn a different club a big transfer fee, is one fewer variable in that gamble.
